I have not posted much today, partly because I had a hard time keeping up with all the posts; there was so much activity I didn't know where to jump in. I believe the leaf fan had to be barred after his completely out-of-line private message to MC girl. However, the reaction to his original post - which was respectful and relatively tame - was way harsher than it had to be.

I'm not proud of my GoHabs family today.

I'm glad you said something about it Nil. I was thinking the same thing. Although I didn't agree with a lot of what he said, he had the right to say his peace about his team. Hockey analysis quickly turned to school house bullying. It's when all the personal attacks started that things got out of hand.

Granted, that gives him no right to say the things he said to MC Girl.

Hey there.... I was merely sticking up for my post made earlier in the evening that he was "responding" to in his original post.

& I Quote...

Sorry for having passion when an unwelcomed Leafs fan is running his lips where they don't belong. To call Kovy "gutless" & "cowardly" on a site where the fans just might be as passionate about their team & players as he is his own. It was an unnecessary post & a cheap shot full of lies. I think that defending is in order when you truly believe in something (or someone), as I did. I was not vulgar, I was not horrible... I was heated in my words because I felt... "How Dare He Come On Here And Post That Crap"
Classless, truly classless!

You should be prouder than you have ever been before of your "GoHabs family", they stuck by the team (as a whole), the players (as individuals) & myself (as a fan), they truly united. Too bad you weren't a part of it all. It's really nice when "family" stands behind you.

Re-read the Laff fan's first post. He was most respectful and his take on Kovalev's elbow was not far out of line (Tucker being a puke notwithstanding!).

It was only when the combined replies were so vitriolic that he turned it up a notch - and was righfully banned. His personal comments to you were completely disgraceful and unwarranted.

I'm not sure what I would have said to the guy; I logged on late today and he was already banned when I got to the posts.

But in the spirit of "respect the poster, if not the post", I think the collective response went a bit overboard.

Anyway, I must say I like your passion, and will enjoy reading your posts. We should just all remember to keep it civil - or Johab, Mario or Figaro will deal with us.

Understood, with the quotes I've shown, I spoke with passion. To be flogged by Leafs bullcrap day in & day out (I'm close to Toronto), then have to tolerate it on our HABS postings.... wasn't gonna sit idly by while a player (that I'm a huge fan of BTW) got slammed & lied about.

He has no right posting his Leafs Propaganda here in the first place. You are either a Hab fan or a Leaf fan..... you can't possibly be both. & his presence here was obviously to stir the pot.... He got it started, I just had to finish. Kovy is my fav. Hab. I had to "jump" in.

MC girl, you are already liked on this board. This isn't about you but everyone. This guy deserves to go back to his Laffs board. My first thread was more directed to our members in the future about telling our own Hab fans to "go to a Laffs board" etc. Because we are all fans even if we differ in opinion, it's harsh. It's kind of like telling someone in your family to **** off!

1) Why is a leafs fan even coming on to this site? That is just asking for trouble. I'm actually sorry I missed it because I would have had to tear into him, if he was being such a meathead.

2) Tucker had that hit coming. That guy is such a whiny jerk. Although he kept his composure after the game and he kind of shrugged it off.

3) MC Girl - Kovy's stock is on the rise after that hit. I eat SOME of my words about him.

My attitude is that anyone has the right to express their opinion on this board, as long as it is done in a respectful and sensible manner. If a Leafs fan wants to come on here and make some points in a respectful manner, I have no problem with that whatsoever. In fact I feel that it is nice to have a totally different point of view. I reread this guys first posts and they were fine with me. Personally, I think that we need to react with more class and not stoop to their level. I welcome his opinion when discussed in an adult manner. But he crossed the line when he got personal with MC Girl.

As for Kovalev..it is about time.

I agree - at first I thought Beleafer's posts were rather harmless. I didn't take exception until he referred to "uninformed female Habs fans" or something of that nature. That's when I jumped on the bandwagon and posted.

However, when he sent that private message to my good buddy McGirl, I had to act and call on our moderators. That was just uncalled for.
