I played my first 10 years of minor hockey on defense with nothing but a wrist shot from the point. I switched to wing in my late teens out of sheer embarrassment. I never thought I'd see the day an NHL defenseman survived without a slapper (even scores a goal!!).

I always hoped any one watching assumed I was making a personal choice - accuracy over power. Hah! My slapshot was as likely to fire on my own net as it was the other teams.

I wonder if big Mike is also the worst golfer on the Habs?
