Upcoming games Mario.
Permalink Closed

Mario, I've mentioned before that I'll be coming to Montreal for both games against the Leafs, and was wondering if there other members on the board going also.  If so a nice little reunion with some cocktails would be a great chance to meet some of the great people on this board. I would be nice to put faces to some of the members and have a great time.

Secondly, I've been doing this trip for a number of years now, and was wondering if you could or anyone else give me some suggestions of what to do as we'll be in town for 4 days.  Like sports bars, good night clubs and a great place to shop for Habs stuff, like jerseys and pictures. We go to the old forum, bars along Crescent and the numerous ballets!  Just wondering if there was anything else that I might not of heard of before.  Thanks for any help Ray

Hey Ray!

Seems both you and Barry are fans of the "ballets" in Montreal!

Ray I'll be there on Thursday covering the team from the media lounge.  We can perhaps meet afterwards say at 10:30 AM (I stick around to listen to the post game player sound bystes in the dressing room and Bob Gainey's post-game interview).

Maybe we can meet.

Sports Bars:  My favorite is CHAMPS Sports Bar located on the main, 3956 St. Laurent boulevard.

Night Clubs:  Time Night club, located 2 blocks east away from the Bell Centre, corner St. Antoine and Metcalfe.  There's the traditional clubs o Crescent ... Thursday's, Sir Winston's, and Newtown.

Habs stuff.  My favorite is LOGO Sports.  I do business with them (my e-shop is a partnership with them).   Located at 4040 St. Laurent (one half block north from Champs Sports Bar).   Ask for Robert or Tony and mention my name and they WILL take care of you just like they took care of  when Norskipaul came to town.

Montreal Ballet?  Hmmmm   depends what you're in the mood for.   HA HA HA.

That certainly is true, they were really nice to me, pass on my warmest greetings to them next time you talk to them...Champs was nice, too, though I found it confusing when there were three different games on at the same time. I spent a lot of time at the Cock and Bull, a sort of english style pub on St. Catherines. Very friendly, unpretentious atmosphere, usually with some local talent on stage. Didn't take in the ballet though, maybe next time.

Another favorite pof mine on lower Crescent between Ste catherine and rene-Levesque is Hurley's Irish Pub.  Great atmosphere, live music, and great Irish brew.

Mario thanks for all the great suggestions, my train isn't arriving in Montreal until 11;30 am Thursday.  But we will be heading to the Bell centre as soon as we get off, as we have to pick our tickets up at the box office.  We have reservations at the Cage aux Sport ( Bell Center) for 4:30 before the game.  There is 11 of us and will all have Jerseys on, but some of the those jerseys are Leaf ones.  I know, but they're my friends.  I think its 7 -4 habs Jerseys.  I'll have my white Rocket jersey.

Norskipaul, thanks for your suggestion also, as our hotel is on St. Catherines, and it sounds like a great place, too bad you weren't around to enjoy it with me.

Yes Habgirl I'm a fan of the ballets in Montreal,  would love the chance to enjoy them with Barry, maybe sometime down the road.  Also only one guy out of the eleven is married, so they kinda go hand in hand.  This will be our 10th year doing this trip and keeps getting better and better each year.

So, Mario if there is way we can get together or anyone else, lets make it work.  Thanks again Mario.
