Alright, let me start off by saying i got to the tv 10 mins into the first period to find the score 2-0 Penguins. Right away i said great....another B.S. loss. Then luck and momentum swung and Montreal Tied it and seemed to be flying and finally took the lead by the end of the 3rd. Thank god right? WRONG!!! Aebischer lets in ANOTHER garbage goal and allows them to tie it. Now look at this at your TEAMS perspective. Forget Aebischer! You start off 2 goals down, work super hard to give your goalie a lead, he lets you down for the second time of the game by allowing ANOTHER and you score another to give him another lead, to watch him blow that one and then let in yet ANOTHER crap goal for the winner. MONTREAL IS NOT A STRONG OFFENSIVE TEAM. We were lucky we put up 4 against pittsburg! Im sorry but Aebischers GAA is already about 5.00 as a hab, the guy has TERRIBLE positioning, TERRIBLE rebound control...any shot is deflected in any random spot of the ice. And he is caught out of position OFTEN. I have no idea how many times i found myself yelling at the tv wondering how and why Abby was flopping around on the ice like a fish out of water. And dont say it was the defenses fault! The defense played AMAZING. They took crosby out of the game completely. And really, there werent many quality chances. Look at all of Pittsburgs goals....not what i would call scoring chances. Furthermore, Aebischers play has NOTHING to do with change in environment or change of team. Thats like saying a goalie will only play well at home, when a goalie goes on the road and plays in a different atmosphere, he will play terrible. He's beaten montreal before in montreal. ( with a better team infront of him being the key reason ) How is that any different that playing FOR Montreal. Colorado wasnt a big fan of Aebischers. They KNEW they werent going to win a cup with the guy, and thats why they dealt him. If they had confidence in him, why would they deal him away for an injured, underachieving former Hart and Vezina winner? Does that sound like a good move to you? Well...it did to Colorado because they know how bad this guy is! You can thank his record to the amazing play of Sakic, Svatos, Tanguay, Hedjuk, Blake, Brunette ... a much more offensive team, capable of scoring the amount of goals to make up for his play. Yea, its only 2 games into his hopefully short period as a hab, and i told you before he played...i didnt like him, because ive seen the guy play before. He is a crappy version of Dominik Hasek. Flops around everywhere hoping that the puck hits him....except the puck doesnt more than it does. If this team gets to the playoffs it will be because of HUET. OUR REAL #1 RIGHT NOW! And the playoffs will belong to him aswell. Forget the 2 hot goalie scenario, because Aebischer is not a #1 goalie. I REALLY hope he is traded or not resigned. HEs $$$ can go to someone else who is not a risk. Bring what we really need in montreal. Some offense! This is my plea to Bob Gainey. PLEASE pull your head out of your @$$ and get it into gear. Saku CANNOT run this team on his own. No team can do well without a dominant NHL player! Playing players because you believe in the is good and all, but dont sacrifice the games to fulfill their paychecks. They might be paid alot because they should be played alot, but the other part of being paid is to WIN. These guys are NOT winning enough games for the money there are paid. See THEO. We are NOT in a rebuilding phase. We are in a GET THIS TEAM GOING phase. Rebuilding is over, we have most peices we need. A few are missing, but this IS a playoff team, if they play as a team! Just promise me you ride Huet for 85 % of the remaining games!

Johab, I understand your frustrations but you were more patient with Theo who was no better than Aebi and was paid way more. Gainey picked up Aebi only because Colorado was the only team that wanted Theo. It was a mere salery dump and nothing more. Who cares if we don't sign him? I sure don't. Also, the guy is probably very depressed. He went from a quality team to a chronic struggling to make the playoffs team. He's saying all the right things but probably in shock and needs councilling.
Yes, I defended Theo until it was obvious he needed a change (it's been coming for a long time). However, Abby looked like a Hasek flopping around, but not catching the puck...
I'll cut him slack, but it looked to me like the team lost confidence in him. Not good...why was Huet not in goal??? I don't get it.
BG, enough already. Please, please find a way to make these guys play like they should be. NO MORE EXPERIMENTATION! It's now do or die.
Johab, I happen to agree with everything you said, which seems strange for someone to do that on this board.
I've always thought that Aebischer was adequate at best. I recall saying to my friend earlier this season that Colorado could be a force to be reckoned with if they only had a strong goalie. Looks like Pierre Lacroix felt the same way too. But this was a salary dump as AB pointed out. Seeing Aebischer's performances as of late, it probably would have been better for the team to keep Danis. However, who's to say Aebischer won't break out of this soon? As I recall, it took Huet awhile to find his groove.
Still, Huet will play the next few games, I'm sure, and I have a feeling when Aebi is called upon next he'll be up to the task... otherwise he won't be playing again for a long time... if Gainey has a brain in his head that is!

Jedah you make some good points, it seems to me that lots of fans have a short track memory but it wasn't long ago huet had played two NHL games and four AHL games and lost all of them, now he's our saviour. I don't expect Abby to be a huge force but i do expect him to come around and be a solid goalie.
