Haha, well I was wondering why you'd been so quiet lately davidb. But give us a 3 game losing streak and we can count on your presence. Good to have you back.

Don't worry though, as bad as things are, we won't finish behind the Bruins or the Laffs.

I understand your frustration and yes, it was Aeb's fault, but the Habs did not play well either. I hope I am not overstepping my bounds though when I ask that you compile your posts a bit. Good venting, but you have done it in 3 or 4 different threads, but they are all the same subject and thoughts.

Yes I will start to put them together. Sorry about that. If the Habs could have played all game like they did the last 5 mins maybe we would have had a chance.  Again sorry for the multiple threads

Aeby was shaky but no one back checked. Our team needs to skate strong both ways.

This isn't BGs fault - it was a salary dump pure and simple.  No one expected Abescher to come in and be the main man.  You're the same people who were calling for Theo's head, 2 months ago.

That was a terrible effort by a team that I am not quite convinced a) wants to be in the playoffs b) should be in the playoffs.  That was a bloody horrible effort as far as I am concerned.

I totally agree. We had one strong player...Souray. That's not enough to win.

You guys must have been watching a different game than me! The Habs outshot the Pens 46-23. The Habs were all over the Pens every time the Pens were on a powerplay. Aebischer simply played a brutal game, I just saw the team deflate after that extra soft 5th goal...like no matter what we do this guy is going to let in another goal. With Huet in it would have been a 4-0 win, with Danis maybe 4-1...hell with Theo in with his bum foot they still could have pulled out a 4-3 win.

The team looked like they had no faith in this guy at all, and rightfully so. My feeling as an ex goalie was that he looked very uncomfortable and stiff, maybe the new suroundings combined with new equipment, but grinding for the last playoff spot ranks as the worst time to stick with a pylon waiting for him to feel more comfortable!!! Aebischer is a much better goalie than 5 goals a game, but I think it should be Huet the rest of the way now that he's had a two game rest with Aebischer playing backup.

So let me get this straight.

- We outshoot Pittsburgh by a 2-1 margin.

- we score 4 goals, which is one more than our past three games combined.

- Crosby held off the scoresheet.

AND WE STILL LOSE THIS GAME?!?!?!?!?!??!

I'm afraid these loses to bottom feeders are going to come back and haunt us.  Mark my words.  I don't see us participating in the post season, and there will be all kinds of excuses from the team and Hab management.

As my late father used to say whenever I was mindlessly screwing around with something - "You're going to play with it 'til you break it!" and invariably I would.

Listen up, BG.

Good perspective, Kahuna (are you the big one, or some other size? ).

I agree with you; I don't think the Habs played that poorly last night.  They out shot the Pens badly, outchanced them, and missed a million glorious chances to score.  This is one they should have won.  You hate to point fingers, but Aebischer should wear this one.

The big one...but I just didnt' want to boast   Fleury stood on his head most of the game too...as bad as Abby was Fleury was great.  Without Fluery's heroics it could have (and should have) been a 9 or 10 - 5 win.  But I was still screaming PULL ABBY after the second goal!

Ah well, I'm not going to panic yet...but that was a real squandered opportunity!

Much agreed.  When I saw Canucks vs Habs live in January, after the second goal on Theo I was hollering "enough BG, yank Theo"!  After the second goal on Abby last night it should have been time to pull him.  He looked uncomfortable, outplayed and frustrated.

Our boys played with passion and desire, in my opinion.  Goaltending, however, seems to be an issue.

I do feel that gainey missed a real opportunity to shift the momentum around though. I dfeninately would have put Huet in the second period. What did he have to lose? It may have turned the game around. On the other hand, and in defense of BG, as a coach I know exactly what Gainey was trying to do. We need two goalies for the playoffs. And he was hoping that Abby could pull it out and get some confidence.
