After reflecting on the THeodore trade and listening to a few hockey commentators, I really believe BG made something very unprobable happen.
This was the reality: We had a goaltender who has enough personal baggage to fill up a minivan / He's having the worst year of his career / He's having a hard time dealing with the smaller equipment / He's having a very hard time with the rule changes...players crashing the net etc. / He's injured and probably won't be able to help any team until before the playoffs / His wife is about to give birth and he explained that his focus is only on that right now (understandable) BUT even if we forget all these factors he's making a tremendous salary. It's a freak that anyone would not only pickup Theo now for 5 mill+ but also give your #1 goaltender.
All morning I've been hearing how the Colorado journalist's have been ripping Lacroix, saying he's gone overboard, saying that this trade will come back to bite him.
In all seriousness, you're a GM, you've know and read everything you need to know about Theo. Would you get him at 5 mill+ and trade your #1 goaltender? I'm having a hard time understanding this...help, I'm all ears!
It was a brilliant trade either way. Theo was never crawling out from under the load of bricks he had amassed in Montreal.
So even if he is stellar in Colorado...and I hope he is...this was genius by BG. As Barry has said, why did he sign him in the first place. But I ask you...did he really have a choice?

Was it genius or lucky? I think more lucky that a team wanted him. He didn't have any trade value with his play and salery this season.

lol...that's what i think...who in there right mind....?
Call the trade what it is - A trade that both teams feel that will help them if not the trade would not have taken place. Avs feel Theo will turn it around & again become a number one goalie but not in the Patrick Roy class there is only one Patrick Roy and The Habs creating salary cap space for the summer - for their signings & possible free agents from other teams as well as getting a number one goalie in return and possibly having one of the best goalie tandems in The NHL (IMO) as well as getting The Theo off ice side show out of town............
