Delayed Gratification

We are lucky to FINALLY have a GM who has a grasp of delayed gratification.

Gainey knows that we won't make the Cup Finals this year.

Gainey WILL NOT trade our future to make the public happy.

Gainey will make sure that he gets the right TOP CENTER & MOBILE D-MAN, not the half-assed choices.

Gainey will develop a solid contender sooner than you think.

Gainey is not "stupid or an idiot" like some of you posters have written. You should all be ashamed.

Gainey knows how to be patient and pick his spots and he believes in Delayed Gratification.

I agree with you 1 billion percent on this. Gainey knows what he is doing, and I have confidence in him. Watch for offseason transactions/signings. Its only a matter of time before we are at the top of the league.

if you don't want them, who do you think would? The trade has to make sense for both parties

they have to be wanted by the team that gets them, who would want them? they are all inconsistant, showing odd flashes of brilliance when they decide to actually work..

Skov...I've read all your posts today. Do I hear a biased towards Gainey. You obviously don't like him. Every positive about today, you'll turn into a negative. However, I ask myself if you don't like a GM like Gainey, I'm scared to ask what you thought of Savard or Houle.

Zednik, Bonk Ribs, you forgot Sundstrom and Streit....WOW, THE GM'S ACROSS THE LEAGUE WERE LICKING THERE LIPS WHEN THEY HEARD THOSE NAMES. THEY COULDN'T WAIT TO TRY TO TRADE FOR THEM. Whatever!

Jay, it's just a matter of logic most of the time. This message board reflects society in many ways. Many people are just in La La Land!!!

You know what, this is a message board where guys/gals have different opinions but when those opinions start sounding like you've been watching hockey a total of 10 minutes, that's when you have to be more blunt. In any case, it's good that some people who are logical thinkers like you guys and don't just yack out of frustration.

yea maybe im not a logical thinker

maybe im way off base thinking  gainey could have pulled a trade off for witt

or maybe have taken a shot on arnason without screwing with the nucleus of young guys

Skov, you're not off base with Witt and Arnason. I agree with you but I have to have faith that Gainey tried his best with what little he had. I'd prefer Witt though.

Arnason is a head case who is defensively deficient. In my opinion, the Sens gave up way too much (Bochensky and 2nd round pick) -- but they're in a position to go for the Cup and the Habs aren't. Witt would have been nice, and maybe BG did take a shot, but the price wasn't right. We have no idea what he tried to do. Just b/c a trade didn't happen doesn't mean that BG didn't try to better the team.

He obviously felt that the prices weren't right.

We have to believe that it is what happened. GM's are hired to better their team...

Yes Key lime. Gainey will have this team in the top 4 in 2 years. All the "crappers" probably don't have a long term financial plan either...they obviously want instant gratification.

Take it easy on Gainey boys. I am very very confident.
