BG confirmed that he's had a few discussion with other teams during the last couple of days. He added that none of the proposals were of high interest to the Habs and usually the serious discussions start around 10 days prior to the deadline. It's not the day of the deadline that you receive the important/serious calls from other GM's.

He concluded by saying that based on the lastest discussions, he does not foresee a trade happening.

Habs fans are eager for some candy but it seems like we'll have to wait for dessert.

Too bad, I was hoping for Jokinen, Selanne and a top 4 defenceman.

Party at Barry's if 1) Gainey makes a splash or 2)Barry wins the 6/49

He also said he wasn't in the running for Kovalev

We were losing big time and needed a trade. Now that we're winning a few, I don't think he'll make a trade for sure.

I think a trade is unlikely unless he's able to unload Theo. But since he's injured, thats a long shot. The way the team looks now, it would be unwise to trade youth for a rental unless they are gearing up for a Stanley Cup run...
