A local reporter reports that the Special Teams has to equal 100 or more in order to attain some success.
This week the Habs were 4 for 19 on their PP (21%) and did not allow a goal 19 out of 21 times on PK (90%). A total of 111...
As I already mentioned at the beginning of the season everyone was saying that to acquire succees in the New NHL, you need strong special teams and solid goaltending. Not sure about the future but right now, we both.
i still think that 4/19 is kinda low. Penalty Kill has been great, but i think that 1 goal every 4 penalties is reasonable. There is no excuse however for a 0-8 night or 1-10 sort of thing. That is just brutal.

If they end up scoring 1 goal in 5 opps., that would give them a 20% PP Rating.
If you look at the top 3 PP teams at or over 20% right now: Detroit - 23%, Ottawa & Buffalo are at 20%.
So the best PP teams don't attain 1 goal in 4 chances or 25%. The Habs should get to 20% (1 out of 5) and stay there.
Still, 1 for 5 sounds so low. There must be a way to go 1 for 4. However, it is statistically significant and that's what makes 1 for 5 a passing grade.
I like this whole 100 pts thing. I love numbers and this is really neat.
That was an old Pat Burns quote. He used to talk about 100 being the specialty team's success number. Of course, there were probably many who said it before him, as well...
