Zednick's Comments

"We came out strong and ended strong," Zednik said. "You can't ask for much better hockey than that. I thought we really showed a lot of character tonight, by sticking to our guns."

These post game comments after the Tampa from Zednick really concern me for a number of reasons. "We came out strong end ended strong" Richie baby..the team had 2 SHOTS ON GOAL IN THE FIRST PERIOD!!!! I guess you would call a first period with 8 shots dominance?!  Yes Richard you can ask for better than that. And if the whole team has that attitude we are in big trouble. Let's face it. Similar to the Islanders game, the habs ran into a sleepy goalie. Which is fine since Montreal had to suffer with Theo for so long, which cost them many games. Thinsg have a way of evening out. But 2 shots in the first period and 22 overall is not "strong". To quote Michel Therrien it is "soffff".  My hope is that Zednicks "Play 2 periods of hockey and get the win "philosophy is isolated to him.

I have to defend Zednik a bit here Barry, Although i agree that the 2 shots in a period isnt exactly what i would call stong, the fact that they converted on both their chances ( those 2 shots were goals ) and shut down Tampas Powerplay and also scored 1 on the powerplay themselves shows they played well for what the had. A good team converts on the chances they have, even if there arent many. You cannot argue though that they didnt end stong. However after Kovalevs goal Tampa gave up ...and if there were 3 more seconds onthe board at the game the final would have been 7-2 because Ryder put it in during a scramble at the end, but the buzzer went before his shot....

Well Barry, they did start off strong but then they got 4 penalties. Higgins scored after 12 seconds. They were then shorthanded for 8 out of twelve minutes in the first period alone. The momentum was totally broken.

When was the last time you saw Kovy get 10 minutes of ice time in a whole game? Actually that line averaged 10.5 minutes of ice time. Geez! The Habs take too many useless penalties in the offensive zone.

To me Johab, starting strong would be not taking a bunch of penalties. Maybe some penalties were not warranted but the fact is some were and some were lazy.  I guess what bugs me the most is that his comments implied to me that if you play part of a game and win then you should be happy. What happens Saturday night if Grahame does not do his Swiss Cheeze Impression?

I say if Zednik continues to play like that, let him be happy, celebrate and say whatever he likes. Best game from him I can remember all season. Anyway, we beat TB 6-2 on the road, so it was a good game despite the fact that we were on the PK for the whole first period.

Oh yes...he will not loose an opportunity to celebrate. He never stays too far from his Vodka-Lime.

Im sorry barry, but i cant answer your question because i cant get over the image of Grahame doing a swiss cheese impression. I understand you meant the holes....but...how do you impersonate a piece of cheese...too funny thinking of what he might do ...hahah
