Danis Starts VS ?
Permalink Closed

The Habs are playing the next 4 game in 6 nights. They have a back to back starting on Monday with Philly and Tuesday with TO. They then head to Boston on Thursday and end the week in Mtl vs the Rangers. Danis will get one start this week.

I believe there are 2 certainties. Huet will start on Saturday back home against the Rangers. Get ready for a great homecoming Crystal Ball. The crowd will be very appreciative...The other game I think he'll start is against TO. That leaves Philly and Boston. Danis will play against Philly due to the consecutive games. No real logic in any of my choices, just guesses.

And-o was just thinking about this last night!

...however, given the recent two week lay-off...and the circumstances, And-o feels that Huet will play until he shows fatigue and/or loses his edge!

I get the feeling Danis will get a start to give Huet the rest. Heavens forbid Huet has a bad game, the floodgates will open.

I agree...one bad game and the circus could start. I'm certain that Huet is well aware of this but doesn't seem to be bothering him too much.

Due to the importance of the T-dot and Beantown games in the playoff picture, I would probably continue to ride Huet.  However, in the interests of starting Huet back in MTL against the Rangers, I might throw Danis in against Beantown (the most "winnable" of the upcoming games).  Danis has been pretty decent when called upon, so I wouldn't worry too much about starting him.

If we are to ride Huet through the playoffs (and looks like it is not an option) we need to make sure he is rested. I still feel that some of Theos problems came from being overplayed. The other side of the coin is this. Do we not want a reliable backup in case something does happen to Huet? Danis needs to play sometime to stay sharp. I say play Danis against Toronto.

The more I look at the schedule (21 games in 26 nights), and the standings (Toronto is behind Atlanta and Boston) the more I think that they should play Danis with some regularity, like every 4th or 5th game.  Maybe go with Huet in the possible season altering games like TB (1 point behind them) and Boston.  I don't see Toronto as a threat to get past them this year.  I know that there are no throw away games, but, Danis has swhown that he can compete at this level.
