These guys are coming together and playing for each other now! If Prospal is going to play with a sword, then he better be prepared to use it! Love how they protected Huet tonight!
The problem now comes with the trade deadline around the corner! AB is becoming too attached with some players that have value to go the other way! Bulis,Komi, Souray and Rivet to name a few! If it's stressfull for me, could you imagine the players? These guys are now all playing like they want to stay here, even Ribs had a strong game!
If they keep winning like this, then how badly do we need a trade?
My only negative thought right now on the roster, is Downey. The guy has very limited skill and maybe someone else like Murray or Sunny deserve some ice rather than him. If Gainey does that, it would also give him a chance to trade Sunny.
Gainey won't trade a D-man, except maybe Streit. Habtastic
Streit? Man, I never even thought of that...I'm sure some teams have some interest in him after seeing him in the Olympics...and some teams are in dyer need of defensemen like Vancouver. Then again, why don't the Habs show interest in him? He hasn't played since he got back...hmm is BG saving hin for a trade. Damn Habtastic, now you got me thinking...
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm hoping for no trade except for peripheral guys like Streit or Sundstrom (or Theo, ha ha). Zednik, Souray and Ribeiro would've been our best bait, but they're playing better right now than they have the whole season. I feel like the chemistry is good. Why mess with it? This is probably not THE year anyway. Let's keep an eye on about two years from now, which IS the year, I think.

Somehow it's hard for me to visualize Gainey getting and e-mail or a fax requesting Sundstrom in a trade. He so under the radar...we don't see him play and we never hear him complain. Hello, earth calling Suny. He reminds me of those extras in movies. He's really id ther behind the scenes but you don't notice him. It's too bad because he not a bad player.

Perceptions of teams are always skewed when the club is either on a long winning or losing streak. Teams usually are not as bad as they appear when they are struggling or as good as they seem when they are on a hot streak. It's great to see the Habs playing some of their best hockey of the year heading into the stretch run, but this is a team that has holes to fill. If someone wants to overpay for any of the players not part of the core group of this team, then Gainey should make the deal. That would include even trading off a player to make salary cap room for the offseason with plenty of high quality free agents available.
Right now Riberio's value is probably as high as it has been all year, is he now a legitimate second line center? Personally I don't think so, but perhaps some gm looking to upgrade may think so. If that is the case Gainey should take advantage of it. Acouple of weeks of improved performance from some of the deadwood on this team does not necessairly mean a long term turnaround is in place.

I like your posts wright. Some of the best around. I agree mostly. One of the problems with this team has been chemistry, and I'm sensing that the team is just starting to play for each other again, even if they aren't actually playing THAT well. That doesn't mean they have the right personnel. But the question is whether or not they should even be making big moves when this is not the year. So I'm all for trades that get rid of costly dead wood, but I'm not into big changes. That said, Mark Bell would be a GREAT pickup, because he's young and physical.
