Nice work by the boys tonight
Permalink Closed

I got some SMS messages here in Panama about the game and I see we took another one. Nice to see we are able to play a defensive style since we will need to play this way in the playoffs.

Kovy, Higgs and Sak all get another point and +1 tonight. Koivu played the most of any forward, guess the break is over for him, LOL (All quiet on the Saku bashing front).... Nice work by Huet once again to earn the 2 points.

Well 90+ degrees here and the women are mighty fine. Got the best of both worlds.

GO HABS GO!!!

 Who's Saku?

You can't expect a comment on him after every game. Tonight he just didn't stand out enough for me to comment.

The guys that made a difference to me were Zed, Huet, Kovy(big goal which was quite an individual play)Markov and Higgins.

Komi is playing much better these days

Koivu's game was better than before the break

You're right, Komi looking more confident.

Higgins working extremely hard on that line and brings a lot of energy. That should help Saks maintain some energy through the game.

Hey there 'Panama Johnny'...your post game analyses are more accurate when you don't watch the game...LOL!

Seriously though...this win was truly a team effort!

Huet was great!  Zednik deserved better.  Komisarek played much better...far fewer 'cardiac' moments.

...Kovy's shot was near perfect or else this one was destined for a shoot-out!

Once again...NO SCORRRRRRRRRRRRINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! I am happy we ar eplaying solid defensively but geeeeeeeeeesh LOUISSSSSSSSE Bobby. get us some scoring!!! We cannot continue playing with fire and relying on Huet to stand on his head. We did get our shot sup to 26 last night (a virtual birrage compared to what we normally get). But the bottom line is the W.

Far as I can remember:

Higgins, Koivu, Ryder

(not a great game for Ryder. Higgins lots of energy.)

Kovalev, Ribeiro, Perezhogin

(the reason the stats show Higgs, Saku, Kovy is that Kovy had just gotten on the ice, and the Koivu line was already starting to change, at least far as I remember...it might be the other way around actually, with Kovy taking a long shift....)...by the way, Perezhogin is exciting and skilled, but did anybody else find his defensive coverage (or lack of) nerve-wracking?

Zednik, Plekanec, Bulis

-good line, no hands around the net. Plekanec still makes one big defensive mistake per game, minimum. But he's great otherwise. Best game in while from Zeds.

Bonk, Downey, Begin

-energy line. Good PK from Begin.

I know that Perezhogan used to drive CJ nuts with his dfensive game or lack of.. That is why he sent him back to Hamilton, to work on that. Gainey seems willing to allow him to work the kinks out in Montreal

I think JohnM was probably expressing a sigh of relief that the bashers had nothing to criticize Koivu for.  I am sure there are many other posters who feel the same way especially in light of the atrocious comments made when it was wrongly reported Saku had requested a night off against the Isles.

I agree with your comments on the guys who made the difference in last night's game.  Zed especially (as did Huet) played a great game-too bad he doesn't pass more.  Great win and we need more of the same.  GO HABS GO.

Or keep two hands on his stick.  Another holding penalty for him last night.
