Thrashers - Scary!

Atlanta beat the Sabres (with Briere in the line-up) yesterday 4 - 2. I saw the highlights this morning and it scares me big time. They are the Hab's largest threat for a spot in the top 8 right now and they seem to be picking up steam. The Habs have no choice but to get W's. Losses and ties and are not an option anymore.

Can we have one year where we don't have to struggle to make the playoffs? We're talking about the Montreal Canadiens here, aren't we? How times have changed...

No kidding, they are 4-6 in their last 10, BUT, they have won three in a row and four out of their last 5.  And to add to that, the Habs don't play them again this year.  The Habs won't get the opportunity to control their own destiny with the help of a 4 point game.  However, they play Boston 3 more times.

In a nutshell, it's so tight in the bottom half of the eastern conference that you need to earn points every game..

Would agree that Atlanta looks to be the most dangerous team chashing the habs for the last playoff spot. They have two good scoring lines and now that Lehtonen is healthy they have solid goaltending. The one bright spot for the Canadiens, if any is the fact that Atlanta has 8 of their final 12 games of the season on the road and play only four games against teams that are currently below them in the standings.Don Waddell the Thrashers GM is not afraid to make moves to upgrade the team and he may get aggressive on the trade front to back up his earlier comments when he guaranteed that Atlanta would make the playoffs.
