All things considering - Bonk Trade

I think we are starting to feel the gains of the trade

Huet and Garon have shown they have equal ability - Huet has been a bright spot for us and has shown he can handle the pressure

Bonk has been a flop but looks like he is improving game by game.  We gained a big centre in a defensive roll.

I think the trade is starting to look alright.

Huet is making this deal look sweeter with every start.

Gainey needs to demand more from Bonk!  And-o still thinks Bob made a huge error when he stated publically (back in September I think) that he would be happy if Radek focussed on playing defensive hockey!  What the heck kinda motivation is that???

Give this deal another month...then let's see!

the biggest difference maker in my mind. is the age difference between garon and huet. Huet will be 31 this sept. while garon turned 28 in jan. I know its only 3 years, but that could be 3 years of a #1 goalie that we are missing out on. But hopefully Price can make up for that with his play.

If anyone here wants to go back and look at one of my first posts. I said we had the good end of the trade, and that Huet was the real deal and was an up-and-commer.

Still gotta wonder if picking up Bonk's salary was such a great thing, but the bottom line is what happens in the spring. Lately I've been pretty happy with the energy line, but is Bonk worth that salary as the centre of the energy line? We'll see.

Well, even if Bonk doesn't produce, if we can turn around and deal him somehow and turn him into something (anything) the deal really would look all that much better.
