 I'm having a hard time figuring this guy out this season. It seems when he gets ample ice, works hard, fights for the puck etc., he's ineffective in production. Tonight he's tired, less ice time and effort but three assists.


 If the guy keeps it simple, plays smart and stays within his limitations, I think he'll be just what the Doctor ordered down the stretch. I just think on many nights this season,he trys to hard to make a difference. That's not a bad thing but it tends to tire him out or lead to a bad penalty without the production. Maybe he just needs to relax more and rely on his line-mates to do the plumbing.


 I know I'm generalizing a bit to make my point as some nights he has worked his butt off and has had success.


 Sorry about the Saks thread guys but to keep it objective and constructive, has anyone else noticed this?

I think I do see what you mean. Saks just seems to care so much that at times he tries to do too much. So I propose we make him dog tired before every game. Maybe Mrs Koivu can look after this for us. Or is the rule ...no "Saks" before a game?

Good one Gary!  (And welcome back - long time no post!)  I wish I had thought of that line in my Moratorium post.


I thought Koivu made great plays on Higgins' first goal (stole the puck from Campoli, whipped around and made a great pass to Higgins) and on the Ryder goal (another great pass).


Is your Christmas tree down yet, Gary?

To put the Saks "play/not play" thing to it's grave finally, I am glad he played. He is our leader and he HAD to play. Sundin played (and looked like he had luggage under his eyes and was gonna puke if someone hit him..reminds me of my oldtimers tournaments). Saks was tired but obviously a factor. He would have lost a ton of my respect and that of his teamates had he sat. He did not and we see the results. Time to support our Captain. I have high expectations of him as I know he does of himself. But I have seen him play better when Gainey is hounding him. Whatever works. Way to go Saks.!! Now..go to bed.

Sundin has lots of time to rest - no game till friday.....Last night The Leafs had a ceremony before the game for The Olympic Hockey Medal Winners (Gold-Sundin/Telequist Silver-Berg Kabelele-Bronze) Still no Stanley........
