This is what GB had to say to a reporter when asked if he thinks the loss of Theo will add too much pressure on Huet's shoulders...
“If Cristobal has shown us anything of late, it’s that he does not appear capable of even sensing pressure,” shrugged Gainey. “He had control of our net heading into the Olympic break and he still has it now. We just need to pick up where we left off before the break and build on that momentum.”
Bob Gainey is prepared for the "probability" that injured goaltender Jose Theodore won't return this season.
While Theodore said he was hoping that he could return to action in time to play some games in the regular season, the Canadiens coach and general manager wasn't so confident.
"Right now, we have two goaltenders (Cristobal Huet and Yann Danis) and we'll see how things unfold," Gainey said after the Canadiens returned to practice after a 10-day Olympic break. "We'll take things game by game and week by week."

Strange...there seems to be conflicting information. The Gazette quote really sounds like he is eliminating Theo from the picture
I don't see anything in Gainey's words that suggests he doesn't want Theo back this year. He is silent on the matter (he could have said "we need him back healthy in time for the playoff push" or some such thing), but that may just be his way of not putting any more pressure in Theo's shoulders than he already has.
I think the Gazette was looking for sensationalism and didn't find it, so they tried to manufacture it.

5 million reasons Gainey wants and needs him back. He can pay him now or pay him later lol

I'm as confused as a starving baby in a topless bar!
The Habs' players seem to be much more confident playing with Huet in between the pipes. If we don't make the playoffs because GB wants to get his money's worth with Theo, it would be the same things. How much $ would the Habs loose by not making the playoffs. Double-sided sword...
