Rumors say he wants out. That's a bunch of crap. Other rumors say they may trade him for the likes of a Brad Richards. Ok, I admit he hasn't been as consitent this year but he has the best shot on the team and he one-times his shots. That's sniper-mentality. He'll never get 50 but can you sign him to a long term...I'll take his 30 goals per year. It's what the Habs need more of. I don't forsee having a 50 goal scorer on the Habs any time soon but I'll take two 30 goal scorers...now just find the other on but sign this one. Oh yeah, and he's Canadian and he's rarely hurt.
Let’s put a rest to this and get Ryder inked on the dotted line long term. We need his 30+ goals in the ever competitive Northeast.

I find that gainey tends to be task oriented and focus on one thing at a time in priority. He had to sign Theo before the season started..then focused on Koivu...and I think Ryder will be next. When you are playing the cap game I think you need to sign that way..priority and then find out how much is left in the bank.

It's just that I was unaware that he signed a one year contract before the season. If a player like Ryder continues filing the net, won't it cost much more to sign him as the season progresses? Let's hope GB his him on his priority list.
Keep in mind that Ryder's a ways away from UFA status, so Gainey doesn't have to worry about this quite as much.
Ryder made my "Habs favourite 6" but I have to admit I was worried he'd be a one-hit wonder. I'm sure Gainey wasn't sure how Ryder'd turn out either.
All things considered he's having an ok second year on a very inconsistent team. He needs to step it up and provide more of an all-around game (wish he'd play the body more), but he looks like he has the goods. Bonafide sniper.
Would anyone on here want to see Ryder traded for Richards? If it was possible, I think that is a no brainer. NO BRAINER!!!! YOUR NUTS! this is why the habs are in so much trouble and have a record of bad trades! they finally have a draft pick that is producing and what? trade him away. the habs can better themselves without trading away the future.

Ryder's a Newf and all, but do you realize Richards is from PEI? You have to go with the guy from Murray Harbour.
