You were too under descriptive when it came to The Theodore Status (I'll talk to you later about this), but when you use the adjective, "inconsistent", you pretty well summed it up.
Nice blog. Right on the money!
Cristobal Huet is Montreal's New Hope, people - Embrace the idea. Maybe the ghosts are trying to tell us something.
I've posted my latest blog, entitled, "What's in a Name?". Check it out at http://www.gohabs.com/gohabs_blog.htm Mario
As usual, Mario, an informative blog. I was curious about the Cristobal part of his name...doesn't seem to match the French last name of Huet.
It is sad that Theo is sitting right now. I am sincerely hoping that he will conquer whatever is ailing him soon. We cannot and should not judge him as we are not sitting in his shoes, big salary or not, he is still human. Montreal has a very large spotlight.
I am, however very grateful (and surprised) at how well Huet is doing. He is helping the team out and I, for one, am impressed. A few good games does not a great goalie make, but this guy appears to have come up out of almost nowhere and is doing his very best to keep us competitive.
In any event, whichever goalie we have, be it Theo or Huet, the team in front of them has to take responsibility for its play and finally, it looks like they are doing so.
Go Habs.....have a good rest but come back ready for the race line to the finish.

Most people I speak to - and on this Board - seem to think that Theo has to bounce back and if the Habs are to get anywhere, Theo has to be the guy to lead them in nets. I don't quite get this logic (other than the shame of having a $5 million man riding the pines). As long as a goalie plays well, that's fine by me. I do wish Theo rebounds, of course............
So Mrs. Hab, how would you feel if say, Theo bounce back but Huet was still hot, and the role was shared 50/50?

I was just trying to be fair to Theo because I feel bad for him....I don't think he is the one that has to play. As you say, that is not logical. If he comes back, fine, but the goalie that should play is the one who deserves to and my gut feeling is that if Huet can do it, then let him. I hope I am not being disloyal here, but right now Huet is doing the job very well.....why change what's working already. Go with the hot goalie, which is Huet right now. Have to go with whatever is the best for the team.

I agree Nil, as long as we're winning and stable in net!
Also to add to this Theo is becoming the blunt of jokes in the league! Not just from our board but from the media also! I remember watching the highlites last night and when they showed Huet's great save in OT, Theo was pounding on the glass in support (which is a good thing as he is accepting his backup role). I think it was Sportsdesk but the words were "Even the thick haired Theo appreciated that save"!

There was no way he was gong to get away without a few barbs. Hell, even Figaro, Brooky and I went nuts in a few posts! You don't get lobs like that too often, so you might as well swing!
I didn't see the game last night, so I'm happy to hear Theo was supportive. He needs to remain a team player despite his personal problems.

Mario, Very good blog. I find the story very interesting. I was not aware the goalie we started this year with as a back up is a number one contender Thank you very much
Don't know what happened there. This site has been acting funny lately, at least on my computer. That second one was meant to be an edit, not a new post.............

I think this situation is very good for Theo. it is a humbling, a re-focusing, and a knowledge that if he struggles that there is soemone who can step in, as well as give him competition. Look for Theo to start the first game after the Olympics.

I think you're right. I can't help but think the coaching trust will want Theo to be their #1. They'll start him and leave him in until he falters - whether that's five minutes, two periods, or two months. And I won't mind; as long as we have a good goalie, I don't care what his name is.
