Enough negativity..time for the top 10 things I LIKE about the habs:
I like Komisarek. Be patient guys. He will be a star in this league one day
I like Bulis- He brings it every night and is starting to gain some confidence. Good wheels and if he can get more finish should be a 20 goal man every year
I like how Koivu tries every night. He gets tired and makes mistakes but he TRIES.
I like Ryder. barry thinks Ryder will become a 30 goal man
I like Ribs with Kovalev..he looks reborn
I love Begin and the Cube. These guys bring it every night. barry picks players just like that for his team every year
I love Huet. Consistent and fundamentally sound.
I like Rivet. Not fancy. But plays hard with an edge. Rivet was bashed alot here 2 years ago. I have seen very little to bash Rivet about this season
I like Souray. He has had his porblems adapting to the "New NHL". Especially when forwards cycle down low. But I think he has talent and is adapting. I like how Souray holds himself accountable. We need more of that
And lastly, I like Captain Morgan. He and I are off to the Country Bar.

I'll take those and see you a MARKOV! He was fast becoming one of my favs before the lockout and I believe he is my fav now! I also toss in a Plekanec, I love fast, skilled two-way (don't misread that) guys. :)

I'm with you, Habtastic. I really like Markov and Plekanec, as well as Barry's list (court still out on Komisarek). When it comes right down to it, I like most of them. Bonk and Sundstrom would be the exceptions, and today's Theo. I'm ambivalent on Dandenault and Streit.
Like most of us, I love any Hab on a night when he's trying his best.

I dont know hwo I overlooked Markov..in fact, let me say that he deserved an A before his comrade Kovalev.

1. I like the history of the franchise. It's the greatest in hockey. Ever.
2. Rocket's Legacy....Forever.
3. When Saku Koivu and Alex Kovalev dangle to the outside on a good night. It's the best when everyone stands, roars and tries to see the end result!
4. Seeing Cristobal Huet prove to Canadiens management and the NHL that he's the real deal.
5. Carey Price waiting in the wings. He's calm, athletic and reads the play. I'm liking looking forward to this kid showin' his stuff in the big game.
6. Sheldon Souray for bein' tough when needed. (My opinion)
7. Jose Theodore-for being cool enough to take all that the media and "others" have thrown at him in the past couple of seasons. Especially in the past couple of months. He's had a good run,and I like him as a Hab. I'll never forget the 2001 season.
8. Begin - for doing more this season than I though he would.
9. Mikey Ribeiro for that pregame skate "spike" look. What a doo!
10. The Stanley Cup Banners that hang from the rafters at the Bell Center. I get all choked up when I see them. Pure excellence!
1. the MONTREAL CANADIENS Greatest sports franchise of all time
2. the banners
3. the great players from years gone by, especially Guy Lafluer (the best, my opnion)
4. talent of Markov, Koivu and Kovalev
5. heart and work ethic of Begin, the Cube and Downey
6. Bulis my fav hab, seen this guy play for alot of years and his work ethic is paying off and this guy never quits. Good to see him getting some bounces and maybe some softer hands
7. Souray, this guy is what all teams need, yes he was struggling but there aren't too many guys in the league you would rather have in the dressing room.
8. the defence core is starting to play alot better and play together.
9. the fans, we have differences but we all can agree we cheer for the best
10. Maybe a little off topic, but when visiting Montreal for a game or two (March 23 and 25) nothing beats the night life, especially Club Super Sexe and Chez Perez(sp?) if you know what i mean!!!!
Hey Ray! The Banners rule! Pic from February 6th game for you guys! I just thought it was a cool shot to share. Jean.
Thanks for the pic. I remember seeing a game in Buffalo one time in the early 90's. Their rafters were full of banners too: Adams Division runner-up, Eastern Conference semi-finalist, etc. etc......... made me laugh out loud!

This isn't the best Habs team of the past decade, but there isn't a single player I can't stand on this team, which is pretty much a first. At worst I don't care (Sundstrom, Streit are good examples for me too)...I'm especially happy about all the young talent (Komisarek, Cote, Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, Plekanec, Higgins, Danis).

You nailed it Plouf, this is a team that has a lot of player's who are easy to like, but very few that you can't stand and only handful of 'whatever' players. I really do like our core and hope that we can move some of our loose change and bring in a couple of more studs to flesh out the line-up and deal with our weaknesses. Lots o' images for you to work with there, Brookie! lol
I know...lol! Nil, just curious. How many Canadiens games have you been too? Alot of em?
Well, I'm in Halifax, so I don't get to see too many games live. Then again, I'm of a certain age, so I have seen a few over the years. My biggest ones were Guy Lafleur's last game in Montreal (I have a picture I took of his last goal, puck behind Patrick Roy) and an OT win over Buffalo in the 1993 Cup playoffs (Carbonneau scored in OT for a 4-3 win).
I suppose I have seen about 15 Habs games in my life, including a couple of exhibition games, plus about another five non-Hab games, including a couple of regular-season games here in Halifax (remember that experiment? I wish they's have continued it!).
I went to a million NS Voyageurs games while they were here. I saw many players who became good players - Tremblay, Carbonneau, Risebrough, Chartraw, Nyrop, Chounard, Mondou, Engblom, Lupien, Rod Schutt, Pat Hughes, Rick Meagher, Keith Acton, Paul Woods, Danny Daoust, Peter Sullivan.....................). People living in Hamilton (beakermania) know what that's like. I miss the Vees terribly.

The Lafleur game must have been just so amazing. I can't imagine........
I get out to Halifax every other year or so. Nice out there. I was actually out this past Summer - just West of Halifax. All the Crosby rage when I was there.
Do you collect Habs stuff? JeRseys, autographs etc?

I have a few things. You are new here, so you weren't around when I started a "fashion post" a couple of years back (listing Hab items we had). It created quite a stir, especially amongst the he-men who thought it was a little too Brokebackish!
I redid it about six months ago, but the backlash was much calmer. Maybe we'll do it again in a few weeks for the newbies.
"Let's do a fashion post, Ab Habman."
"I wish I could quit you, And-o."

LOL!! Classic stuff! I wish I was here back then! Too much!
Yes, it was quite the kerfuffle. Forum Fan called me names, Cleghorn (in my defense, I think) said I was like Ed Broadbent; it was all very bizarre. But all in good fun.

3-0-2 and a couple of Laffs losses and it's getting very Brokeback Mountain around here. We even have everybody coming to some kind of sort of agreement about Koivu.

I guess we'll have to start somethning else up, plouf.
I'll start: I think Jose Theodore is having one of his best years ever! Everyone agree?
