Yes this a very important  game for both teams, winning this one would be great for the team and great for us fans, because two and half weeks off would be alot better thinking about the last win instead of a lose.  I hope the  guys going to the Olympics aren't going to be thinking ahead and don't bother showing up.  Does anyone know what the schedule will be for the guys not going.  How many days off, when will they practice stuff like that. Mario any word now that your the inside guy.

1 thing ive liked seeing in the past couple games is the shot count for the habs, they have either outshot or matched closely with shots with the opposing team. MUCH better than being outshot by 3 times their own amount. 45-15 ( ottawa sorta of game ) Notice, the team started shooting, the team also started winning again!! Now, Atlanta's weakness is DEFINATELY their goaltending. We will have to capitalize on this and make sure we shut down Savard, Kozlov, Hossa and Kovalchuk. If we can put ANY of these guys off their game, we have a good chance at winning. Huet i hope will continue his stellar play and i also hope the line of Ribs, Kovy and PErez continues to play well! Game Preview: Canadiens vs. Thrashers

MONTREAL – The Canadiens will play their final game before the Olympic break when they host the Atlanta Thrashers tonight. Thursday in Buffalo, Alex Kovalev’s 13th and 14th goals of the seasons propelled Bob Gainey’s crew to a 3-2 overtime win against the Sabres. Montreal has now picked up at least a point in its last four games, keeping them tied with the Maple Leafs for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Thrashers are in Montreal following a 2-1 win over the Senators on Thursday, just their second win in their last 10 games. Atlanta, who boasts three of the league’s top 10 scorers in its lineup, has slid to 10th in the East after winning seven of eight to start 2006.

Tonight marks the final meeting of the season between the Canadiens and Thrashers. Montreal won the first two, while Bob Hartley’s troops skated away with two points the last time they faced off.

Three-bie: Since the Thrashers joined the NHL in 1999, the Canadiens have yet to lose a season series to the club. A win on Saturday would give Montreal three over the four-game series for the fifth time in six seasons. The lone exception came back in 2002-03, when the Canadiens and Thrashers split the series with two wins apiece.

Electric duo: Placed on a line together a few games ago, Mike Ribeiro and Alex Kovalev are beginning to find their groove. Over the last two games, the two forwards have been a factor in three of the Canadiens’ four goals, with Ribeiro assisting on Kovalev’s three markers. The chemistry between Nos. 71 and 27 hasn’t gone without notice, as they logged the most ice-time among forwards Thursday night. With a point against the Thrashers tonight, Kovalev will extend his points streak to five games, his longest as a Canadien.


MONTREAL - The Canadiens will close out the pre-Olympic portion of their schedule tonight when they host the Atlanta Thrashers at the Bell Centre.

Thrashers lead 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.

well the positives are we got a point and Huet was nothing short of out of this world. I need to feel concerened about our goalscoring once again. Huet is doing everything he can but geeeeeesh boys..1 goal..2 goals...sorry fellows but that ain't gonna cut it in todays NHL. Also...I need to question why Gainey uses Perezhogan and Ryder in the shootout. Neither have shown me much in breakaway situations all year. Certainly Koivu should have been out there ahead of these 2. But again..goaaaaaaaaaaaal scoring...we have none. This needs to be addressed.
