Why is everyone overrating Cote? He looks ok, but he's pretty raw still. And in the long-term he doesn't have the talent of Komisarek, who should NOT be sent down. Geez, Komi played awesome two games ago.

More than anything...why did a playeer have to be sent down? That's the point. If we have an excess of defencemen, then Streit should of been sent. I think we can survive without Steit. What do you guys think?

Komi is basically in his first year as a "regular".  He is still learning and adjusting, and making bad decisions now and then.  The plus/minus worries me, but his Mom's death appeared, understandably, to have thrown him off his stride.

Let's Give the kid a chance.  He'll either mature or not, but it will be harder to tell if he has to change airplane tickets for bus tickets.

At this stage Cote has more upside than Streit, so it's helpful to give him more responsibility and playing time, without the pressure,... in other words, in Hamilton. I know people like him a lot, but he's never been much more than a #6 this year.

Key Lime, sure we can survive without Streit. He hasn't been in the lineup in awhile and we keep winning!

hey guys.. this will be my first reply to any message..(ive been following the board for a while.. decided to jump in with my thoughts) well anyways i say give komi the chance to play and see what he can do ( allthough sometimes he looks pretty useless.) .. he is playin as a "regular" now and lets see what happens.. cote will be  a big part of our D in the next 1-2 years maybe 3.. if BG decideded that cote wasnt gonna play for a while i think its best for him to be in hamilton so he can play in games rather then sit in the press box... and for streit i dont know where they found this bum or whos idea it was to sign him.. but he was really only used on the power play and i really dont think he helped the PP to much.. but thats just my thoughts.. im no expert  just a huge habs fan

Maybe the arguement is who has more potential and talent? Cote or Komi? I actually like them both! They both add a dimension. Komi is big and should handle alot of minutes but so far looks like a late bloomer. He struggles with his positioning, decisions and isn't the best skater. Reminds me of Rivet who is finally playing his best hockey.

Cote is a good skater and will provide more offense. He seems to fit the new NHL concept because he is mobile.

Time will tell but it can't hurt to keep Cote playing as much as possible and Komi won his job here in the last season! It's just that he's been through a hard time and regressed a little. I'm sure he'll continue his progression even if it's slow! I like the fact that Habs understand he's been through a most difficult time losing a mom and support him!

The future looks bright with these two even if they don't become top two material! Defense is a tough position!

If the choice is between Streit and Cote, there's no choice at all in my opinion. Streit is very soft on defense, especially around the net, and doesn't contribute all that much on offense. I like Komi and Cote both. Either one is preferable to Mark Streit. Maybe BG has decided to go with 5 defensmen...

Cote may of been sent down so he can play during the Olympic break and not sit around.  Work on his game, this guy was a pleasant surprise but needs more work, so why not send him down.  As for Streit, he is the captain of the Swiss team and will get some work over in Italy.  If Komi is sent down, wouldn't there be a chance of losing him to the waiver market?
