Keeping this line together should be a no-brainer for Bob and Carbo!?!? Saku seems to feed off the energy of these two…mean-while, Higgins and Ryder can benefit from Koivu’s playmaking abilities!
Just imagine if Bob could find a capable long-term solution to centering the likes of Kovalev and Zednik!
Having said that, And-o would like to suggest that Bob give serious consideration to packaging Zednik and Sundstrum together for such a commodity, although Plekanecs might eventually grow into the role of the number two guy (he certainly has AT LEAST the makings of a top quality third line guy though). At any rate, moving Zednik would also open a long-term slot on a top quality line for either Bulis or Perezhogin (with guys like Kostitsyn and Latendresse nipping at their heels).
And…And-o LOVES what the so-called third and fourth line guys have been contributing lately to this team!!! Guys like Begin, Downey, Bulis, Perezhogin and even Ribs and Bonk have been skating well and forechecking like crazy! And-o swears that he has seen more Habs block shots lately than in the past two seasons combined!!!
Finally, good for Cristobal Huet! Not many considered him to be anything much beyond garbage…but he has shown nothing but a solid work ethic, maturity and team play (this kid could have made things 10X worse by being critical of the coach’s decision to keep playing Theodore)!
So, given the Habs apparent depth in goal…surely we could attract one really solid offer of a top pairing defenseman (perhaps coupled with another gritty winger and/or prospect) for one of these guys?
…anyway, lets hope the Habs can stay on a roll heading into the break!
Can't disagree with any of your comments Andy. Only thing is making this team better might have to wait for the offseason as BG is likely stuck with all the pieces they have in place right now.
