In order for Theo to try and regroup, why on Earth would Bob Gainey not state to the media that Huet will be starting at least the next 4-or-5 games in a row?
And-o asks you all...does this not seem reasonable???
Since the salary has already been allocated, why not give the guy a fighting chance to gather himself together and prepare for a respectable stretch-run?
...and why not either pony-up a new deal for Saku...or trade him??? How could you risk losing the Captain for NOTHING???
Can't disagree with your first point concerning Huet. If the team has even the slimmest playoff aspirations, then they have to go with Huet, he offers a quantam leap in performance over Theodore.
As for the reference to signing Koviu, that ship has sailed. The warning flag that Koviu would not be returning next season was back in the off season when he signed only a one year deal. Since then Koviu's statements have changed slightly but perpectibly concerning resigning with the team. His last comments were that he hoped to resign, but this was his one opportunity to explore the free agent market. At this point based on thie performance and direction of the team, even if Gainey gave a strong offer, I doubt Koviu would bother to sign. Who could blame him?
All depends on what happens in the next 5 games. If we can keep within 5 points, he might keep going with Theo. If we drop out of the hunt, expect some moves to be made.
I don't understand why Theo is even on the bench these days. Dude seems to be either letting in anything thrown at the net, or sulking after he is justifiably yanked from the game.
Does anyone really know if Koivs will be signed or not? I think if they believe they won't sign him, then they'll deal him.
