Who can play worse...Saku or Theo??? Round 1 definitely goes to Theo. How on Earth is this team going to make the playoffs if these two continue to play like Beer League All-Stars??? ...at least Saku gets angry at himself though, whereas Theo just rolls his eyes!!!
Stop singling out Koivu! He is the team's best and most consistent player - bar none - this year. Not even close (well, perhaps Markov). He may have had a bad game last night, but he has had fewer than any other player on this team. I really don't get this anti-Koivu passion.
Fix the goaltending and we have a very good team.

Nilsey- I am a Koivu supporter. Just in a different role. He had a horrible first period last night with a key giveaway and was slow. Did that lose the game? No. It is a team game. Theo lost it. I was horribly disappointed to see Saks go from what I thought was his BEST game to his worst period. But I can also say that Souray was horrible., Rivet was horrible. Kovalev did his best disappearing act again. And Theo speaks for itself. But I will not shy away from singling out Saku when he has done poorly just like I have no other favorites (CJ is gone lol). This is not Survivior and Saks does not have the immunity necklace. Having said that, I will not unfailry hang the demise of the team on him alone. But geesh Nilsey he is the CAPTAIN. Like it or not, just like in the days of Belliveau, The Road Runner, and Richard, when the team falters you look first to 2 directions. Goaltending and leadership.
What bothers me is what I have been saying all season. When Theo gets pulled we had 20 shots on net. Down 5-2. How many shots do we get the rest of the game? 14. And most of those were from far out. In other words we quit. To hear people on this board say "DO you blame Koivi for quitting?" OF COURSE I DO!!! If your so called heart and soul is quitting, what does that do to the rest of the team?!?? It is totally deflating to see your goalie quit. But the nail on the coffin last night was when Gainey changed goalies and the team quit. To me that speaks volumes about the season and the dressing room. There is no accountability and accountability starts with the captain and other leaders.
Is Saks the only porblem? Of course not. I know way too much about the game to make an assinine comment like that. But he is a HUGE piece of the puzzle. But wait!! There is alot of blame to go around here!! We were 0-5 on the PP and Carloina was 3-6 on theirs. Bob- what happened? Even when we were on our slide we were ranked 10th and as high as 7th in PP and were no worse than 11 on the PK. You do not want to know where we sit now.

…yeah, who could have ever predicted that Koivu would play a Beer League stinker on the heels of a solid performance??? Didn’t see that one coming, eh!?!?!?
Sorry Barry but if you can't count on the goaltender to stop the basic shots then the whole team will let down. After that, no point in putting the finger on anyone else. This game was over before it even started.
Look at the last time we didn't make the playoffs and tell me what is the common thread -> Theo underperforming. Not rocket science here. You need goaltending to do anything in this league. Look at NJ, they were out of the playoffs until Brodeur turned it around. Who is their captain?

No question Johnny..as I said to Muller, if you read my Theo posts you will see how I feel about his..errr..performance. Saks is a big piece of our puzzle right now. And IF he decides to stay, we need him to get this bunch of quitters going. Julien could not. Gainey can't. So now it has to come from within as I have been saying all along. Like most of us, I am out of answers. But I do know we have a team of a bunch of quitters. After Theo bailed last night, we had a chance to show up and do something. Carolina with 2 of their best dmen having a shower. Huet stopping pucks. Our responce? Pack er up and head home.

Nilsey- not bad but I had to reschedule I was going to head down your way tomorrow but am gonna reschedule. I am heaidng to lovely Saint John instead.

To be honest, I'm not much of a pub-hopper, so I wouldn't know which one's a good one to watch a game (or would have it on). That was me in my university days, which are well behind me........... You might want to come down on a night of a Mooseheads game.

Back to your little debate. Surely Koivs hasn't been as bad as Theo? I'm sure you will agree he was superb against T.O. and that right there puts him well out front. When is the last time you can say that about Theo? 3rd week of December against Ottawa, I would have to say...a long time ago.
Koivs hasn't been great, but c'mon. I don't even understand what the argument is?
