If the Habs are in need of a goaltender, I would try and get Martin Biron from Buffalo.  He has posted consistant decent numbers and is only making 2M.  He has the potential to become a numebr 1 goaltender and Buffalo is shopping him around. Also if the Habs are to trade Theodore, the best bet would be to unload him to Tampa Bay, with the hope of getting a number 1 center back (I would like Brad Richards or V. Lecavalier). I would make both trades.

Defenitly if we have to trade Theo, it should be tot he west, with the new schedule we'll only have to see him once every 3 years.

Theodore for Richards or Lecavalier great! Totally and completely unrealistic. Of course Montreal would do that deal in a heartbeat. Jay Fester is not stupid, he is not going to trade two all star commodities for a goalie who is 4 years removed from his carear season, and has seen his play steadily erode since then. Fernandez,Danis,Biron are all available and at this stage far superior in terms of performance than Theodore. Theodore's trade value is at an alltime low and the Habs would be lucky to get a mid tier player in exchange for Theodore at this point in time.

I was commenting on trading Theodore to Tampa for one of the centers either Richards or Lecavalier not both.

I would like to see Richards as the Habs # 1 center.  Oh well, at least I can dream.

I understand that the proposed trade was for either Richards or Lecavalier, and I still believe that Tampa would not trade either of those guys for the slumping Theodore. Don't get me wrong I only wish that Tampa would do the deal. Unfortunately because of his performance, the rumoured off ice behaviour and his bloated salary it would appear that the Habs are stuck with him until he begins to significantly upgrade his play. If Theodore had even played at an average level this season, it would have translated into an additional 5 points in the standings, which at this time would be large.
