MONTREAL – Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Friday that forward Andrei Kostitsyn has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Kostitsyn, 20, played in 12 games with the Canadiens, recording two goals, an assist and two penalty minutes. He also registered a plus/minus rating of plus-1. On Dec. 13, against the Phoenix Coyotes at the Bell Centre, he scored his first NHL goal on his very first shot.
Kostitsyn has played in 34 games with the Bulldogs so far this season, scoring seven goals and adding 14 assists, with 38 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot, 200-pound right winger, born in Novopolosk, Belarus, was the Canadiens' first pick, 10th overall, in the 2003 draft.
