Why do we have one of the worst scouting and drafting records in the league?

I'm no expert in this area (or practically any, for that matter), so maybe one of our wiser contributers could enlighten me...

...possibly because they have concentrated scouting efforts in the QMJHL and Europe?  Maybe send a scout to the US or Western Canada...that might help.

I think they are trying to stick with some french kids if ya know what i mean.....but there are some tough, gritty, skilled players playing in the WHL, maybe they should of checked a few jr. games while they were out.  I don't mean just the scouts, i mean the whole friggin team.

The past glory days of Sam Pollack are gone. We have never been the same since he left many years ago

we do have some very good crisp lettuce on the way , in another post I mentioned watching Guelph vs. London ....Matt D'Agostini who plays for Guelph and was drafted in the fourth round (2005) and Sairhei Kostsitsyn ( 7th) who plays for London are two very good players despite their late round picks ...in fact the TSN pundits are touting the younger Kostsitsyn as the steal of the 2005 draft , D'Agostini is a superb skater , a very good playmaker , is currently Guelph's leading scorer ....along with Kyle Chipchura ....yes I would say that there is some very good lettuce on the way ....

....so gentlemen you're just plain dead wrong about our prospects , unfortunately we have so many good prospects  that in three years we won't be able to afford all of them under the cap ..

Not forgetting to mention the strong goaltending prospects in Price and Danis.

That's good to hear, and I hope it turns out great, but it seems we always have this pipeline filled to the brim that trickles out by the time in gets to the big rink. Why is that?

I think we have had alot of drafts from the West..just not good ones. Names that come to mind off the top of my noggin are Lindsay Vallis, Terry Ryan, Turner Stevenson, Carey Price and Kyle Chychura

I was partly being facetious.  They certainly haven't done a good job drafting out west.  Actually they haven't done a good job drafting anywhere!  Still, the European-Francophone content is usually at about 70%...

Terry Ryan isn't even from the western part of Newfoundland!
