After getting thumped by vancouver you think they would show some resiliance and work ethic for looking so bad in front of a entire national tv broadcast. You guys arent a team or anything that resembles a team, and they certainly dont deserve to put that jersey on anymore. I rather have the ahl team brought up and finish the season then see these sorry bums.

That's not even close to being the case.

I, along with many other Habs fans have grown accustomed to "sucking" for lack of a better word. Save for a few seasons where we saw our boys play their hearts out, this new uninspired play is nothing new. So why is everyone so appaled that the good name of the Montreal Canadiens is being sullied? Hasen't this been the case since '93?

Good point! I'm tired of tolerating poor teams! I'm sure the old boys..The Rocket Richard etc are turning in their graves!

In fairness, do we know that Gainey is just sitting idly by and not caring or trying to do something? What do the Habs have to offer up in a trade that won't diminish what little talent they have left? Don't get me wrong, I believe these guys do have talent (including Bonk, Ribeiro and Theodore). They are, after all, in the NHL. But they haven't been living up to what they are capable of. It's a vicious cycle, if they play to their potential, they would be doing well and there wouldn't be the need for wholesale changes. But, they are not playing well, and I can't see any GM wanting half-hearted players in their dressing room. I guess the best that we can hope for is that a GM will see a player's potential and believe that he or his coach can get the effort out of them.

Agreed- what we keep talking about trading guys like Bonk, Theo, or Ribiero, thinking that teams have been banging down Gainey's door offering him the world..NOT. These guys have no trade value. Who does have trade value you ask? Koivu, Kovalev (someone looking to make a playoff run), Markov, Komisarek, Rivet, and maybe.,.if he smartens up..Souray. If we want the team to be imporved be prepared to lose some good players, not the garbage that keeps being mentioned here.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I believe we live in a time when money talks, and if the money is on the table whether these people play hard or not, well, you figure it out.

If most of us slack off on the job, we feel in in the wallet. Give'em all a base salary plus incentive pay for performance, I say. A couple of you felt that would offend the integrity of the players when I last brought the topic up. Fine. If players are offended they can take their jocks and socks and get off my damned ice.

After all, I've been offended night after night.

Trapper- could not have put it better myself..like Therrien said "pffft..I wonder how dey wood feel if we pay dem only 50% of der salary cause dey play 50% of da time"? Well put. I feel bad enough watching it on tv. It does not cost me anything except my time. But what about the poor SOB who works his rear off all day to save hi smoney so he can pay 100.00 a ticket (plus concessions etc) to take his boys to a game? THOSE are the people I feel sorry for, the poor stiffs who work a REAL JOB for a living and spend that hard earned money to watch these jokers laugh their way to another million dollar pay check. These spoiled brats have lost all sense of what the real working man goes through for 8 bucks an hour in the real world.
