Another call for other format
Permalink Closed

With all that is going on in this board, it is really hard to keep up some times. There are often multiple thread of the same topic. I still believe that we could use a good split up of topics. Simply:

Rumors and Trades
Game Day - prognostications and observations
Other Sports
Everything Else

Sorry to bring it up again, Mario, but as the site population grows, and it seems to be becoming quite populated lately, the more the need, IMO.

(That and charge your advertiser $1 a pixel!)

.............................this is a very important issue , I appreciate everything Mario has done , the graphics and layout are great ...but !!! , the old format was much better and as you can see the site lost a lot of the old posters ..and I think the new format had a lot to do with that ......the old format was much more user friendly

Again...I would say leave it as user friendly as possible!

We may of lost a couple posters but we gained many!

This board rocks just like it is!

I'm happy either way, and as long as I never have to see the words "hand job" again in the middle of a rant , I'll be fine...

Maybe a suggested guideline or two about civility, without totally neutering the place

The fact that we have gained many under this new format tells me the format is ok. I do like the suggestion of threads just like we do for each game. Four of five threads may be good for different topics

...............................I agree that was a rank comment , however it's not about civilty or quantity over quality which is lacking as you can see by the need for your call for civility ...the old format was better ..........there's too many multiple posts , you can't pick the replys

and to open a can of worms ..we may have quantity , but there's no doubt quality is a factor

I see your difficulty, FF, but to echo david and AB Habman, we have gained many more posters than we have lost under the new format.  In fact, I can't think of many that have dropped off at all; most of the old gang is here - you were the last one we were waiting for!

Sorry, I don't mean to sound argumentative about a new board idea but how is a new post format going to change the quality of the post! It will still be a democratic right of the posters to post personal crap on other posters if they wish!

Brookylnhabfan and Forum fan..you bring good points about being civil but how can you patrol that? Would it make the board too complicated or do we hope that people make better decisions with their democratic rights?

Just curious how it can work without posts being screened first and I don't think we want to start doing that because then it becomes someones responsiblity and opinion of what should be posted! Will people shy away from posting if they are worried if it'll pass inspection?

I guess what I'm mumbling about is I like the simplicity of the board now But open to new suggestions if they can be user friendly without taking away your right to express youself!

If people go overboard then Mario or the other moderators have the right to ban them. I guess that's the same as before.

You wouldn't. That's why I said suggested guidelines. It would be up to the poster to follow them or not. Even then, I'm only talking about extremes of conduct that involve one poster mindlesly flaming another. not heated exchanges, which are the best thing on here...

Besides, an adult-only section of the board would allow me to put up my series of "Habs in Ancient Rome" photoons...

I came across this site just a little bit before the layout change and correct me if i am wrong but didn't the user have to click each individual reply in order to read them? I think that this format is way better but the only problem is that some users need to realize that you do not need to create a seperate thread to reply to another.

Creating subforums is a good idea as well...

Yes, that's how it was.  You couldn't see the actual posts, but you saw the various threads  (post headings), and could tell who was answering whom.

I liked the old system, but after going around this one for a while now, I'm happier as we are now.

Go Habs!  Go Mario!

Trust me,  I might not post  like the veterans, I do read many of the posts, comments, and suggestions.  No changes planned for the moment, but like in my day time profession, always looking for improvements.  I'll make them when warranted.

Mario

Mario has spoken. Thread closed. I won't bring it up for at least the next 20 games :P
