Is it possible Bonk will only perform if he's the center of attention and given a bigger role?

Well, I think he is running out of chances.  He may have bought himself some time with the 4 assists in 2 games, but he was BRUTAL again last night.  Surely one of the rookies can do more that him out there?

But did you see the move he made on the D in the last few minutes? It was brilliant. Too bad Kip made a great save AND Zed was 6 inches off the rebound, otherwise we'd be writing about how Bonk's found his groove with 5 assists in 3 games. Not everyone can score every game.

I agree with you figaro (notice I didn't quote you ), Bonk looks like he did some soul searching. I think he'll have a completely different second half

He definitely showed some spark last night. And he did almost net the game-tying goal -- gotta give him credit for the effort. Whatever the reason, it would be nice for his improved play to continue -- if only so that we don;t have to keep reading all the anti-Bonk stuff on this site!

By the way, anybody know what a Radek is??? (Maybe if he changed his first name to "Guy" he'd score more...)

Thanks for not quoting me :P

I don't get to watch a lot of the games because I work nights. So, I might not be an expert here, but name me the players who've played well all year. Besides Markov, I don't think there are really others who stand out. Ya, bonk has been a big let down, but, honestly, so have Kovalev and 8-10 others.

Now, after the last 3 games, the keys seems obvious (seem only). PP, PK and effort. I don't know why Montreal only had 10 shots after 35 minutes or whatever it was, but that speaks as lack of effort. You can be 3 guys short and still give it your all. Since this thread is about Bonk, from what I saw of last night and have seen since BG decended from on high is Bonk seems to smile more, is more involved throughout and, maybe premature, but will pick it up. Maybe 12-15 goals.

All the optimism surrounding Bonk is comforting, but it doesn't change the fact that this guy is a perenial underachiever.  He's lazy, generously overpaid and he doesn't do a hell of a lot.  I didn't think Bonk did anything last night?  Did I miss something?  I think he made maybe one move all game?  If anything, he was giving the puck away A LOT!!!

It's nice that everyone has got that "we're stuck with him, so we might as well keep using him and giving him chances" attitude, but we all know he is a marginal NHLer and would be likely be in the minors right now on any other team.  Wasn't good enough for the Sens so they dealt him - they knew the deal.  There are 500 other guys in the league I could slot into the line-up over him and not miss a beat, not to mention our young prospects.  In my opinion he is taking ice-time from Kostitsyn, Perezhogin and Plekanec (who can kill penalties EASILY as well as Bonk).

Terrible signing by BG -

The feeling I get when I see him play...
