Did you all take notice that Flames have alot of depth! Iginla can do it all...shoot, hit, fight, pass and skate with talent to spare! All the other forwards work just as hard and some also have good skill! How about Yelle...best defensive forward the game has to offer!

Their defense is second to none..Regehr brothers, Ference, Leopold, Phaneuf, Warrener, Hamrlik. How about Hamrlik sitting out? On our team, he would be top three defensmen!

Their goalie is probably the best in the world!

Habs totally out played, out hustled and out shot despite the score!

My point is, this game is a good indicator that Gainey has alot of work to do to fill holes if the Habs want to be up there with elete teams!

Tell you what AB... I was at the game and I can tell you I didn't see any of that. I saw a fluke call in the first that eventually lead to a 2 man advantage that drained the habs defence and put them down one goal. Then the Flames played the neutral zone snooze for the last 40 mintutes. Considering all the extra man advatages they had I am shocked they only had 30 shots on theo... which includes 7 on that 5 min major given to Souray.

I am not blind and and I know that the habs could have played better and done more damage... but if the game would have been allowed to flow like it was in the first 5 minutes they would have walked away with it. They were leading in shots 6-2 and controlling the game right before the ref started calling every physical contact he saw. He took the wind out of their sails and they never recovered.

So before you start giving hand-jobs to everyone in the flames organization realize that they lucked out with a call that went their way tonight and then played a good trapping system for the rest of the game. Kipper wasn't tested very often and I wouldn't call either of Iggy's goals hi-light real material.

Good post, its saddening that there are so many fans that are willing to leap down the habs throat.

has the board degenerated to THIS? I think all Ab did was make some VERY legitimate observations and now he is giving "hand jobs" to the Flames players?!?? I do not think he was leaping down the habs' throats at all and Ab Habman has been a very good supporter of the team. Fact is they were outshot and outplayed (and regardless of the refs.,.I am tired of that excuse..live with it boys). Ab is right. The holes that were there when Julien was there are still there. It is just that with teh extra effort now they are not as blatant. One thing I do not understand. Why we do not have an enforcer. Souray fighting an idiot like McCarthy and getting the boot? Ya..that was a fair trade off I amsure.

I was at the game as well and I couldn't agree more with AB, actually.
That game was hugely indicative of the Habs' problems: physical play, intensity, hard work and a very thin blue line (injuries don't help).
They were schooled in all respects. Blaming the loss on an unfortunate series of bad calls (on both teams)
is ridiculous - that was the least of their problems. They were beat to most pucks, terribly outshot (quality of chances especially), out-hit embarrassingly and frankly, the score was more than flattering. I'm not jumping down the Habbies throat, it's a reality check for where this team stands in the league. I'm not advocating a wholesale change via trade either, i'm simply being realistic. The Flames are built for the playoffs and I'd personally like to see a lot more grit/hustle from our boys and if necessary, some personel changes that point us in that direction. Granted, i think last night's game was an overall poor effort, and obviously some things could have gone our way instead of theirs, nevertheless a sorry effort i thought. Despite all that, it is somewhat encouraging that Bonk almost tied it up in the last couple minutes despite how poorly we played !!!
my2centz..

GO HABS GO!!!!

Thanks Barry! Also good point about Souray fighting! I mentioned that also that we need an enforcer because Souray will keep being that man because he is so competitive by nature!

By the way....don't worry about Mr. mmmmrules(or whatever) because most of his posts are a mere personal attack on myself! He's like a mosquito waiting to be slapped silly!

Eloquently put, Theodoor.  The Flames weren't great last night, but they do what they have to do to win.  Their game is kind of boring, but the Habs were just as boring.  I was at the game, waiting for the Habs to jump into high gear, but it never came.  For a team that is supposed to be fast, they sure looked slow last night - getting beat to pucks in both zones.

When teams like Carolina are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games, I have a right to be a little frustrated with the situation of the Habs. Carolina cannot touch us on paper, but somehow they have the best record in the league. I think it all comes down to effort and the Habs sure as hell don't give it every night.  The Flames aren't a great team, but everyone in Calgary knows that if they to coast, they get stomped.

Maybe guys who thought they were on the block a few games ago, turned it up for a couple games and have now started coasting again?  If anyone actually thinks the Habs turned in a decent or good performance last night, you can kiss the play-offs goodbye.  They need to be better every night.

Wow!

Why do you bother to put stuff like that in a post? Are you interested in having a discussion or debate on the subject, or are you just looking to insult people here, as you've done from your very first post?

Do you think you're shocking us with that? Do you think it makes you sound more masculine and aggressive? More conservative? A bigger patriot? A better fan?

I'm asking in all seriousness, because I fail to understand why you would have such a lack of self-appraisal to think that you can judge who's a real fan or not, and pass off nonsense like that to people who you have found guilty.

Thanks for bringing the board to a new low point...

Thanks for putting me in my place man.. I really needed some one to point out my "lack of self-appraisal"?? I wish I was the only one with that problem.. but sadly on this board I think its an epidemic. Do me a favour though... Lighten up! I put that up there in jest. I didn't know i was going to crap all over the sewing circle atmosphere everyone had going here. I just don't like seeing post after post about how wonderful every other team in the league is and how much the habs suck. Its too depressing watching the doomsayers have their way on this board all the time. Try smiling when someone brings up the all too funny term "hand-job"... I know I do.

How about answering the questions instead of deflecting them? Especially the part about you being the definer of the term "Fan"

BTW, There's plenty of stuff on here that doesn't fit in sewing circles, look at some of my posts, for example.

What you did was insinuate that another guy on the board with a differing opinion than yours should go and satisfy a rival team, since anyone with his opinion can't possibly be a "real" fan... I might see the humour in that if you hadn't been childishly stalking the same guy from the time you got here. But you didn't intend it in a humourous way, so don't pretend that you did.

Would lightening up make me just like you? Hmmmm... thanks, but no...

yes AB has made some good points. But that doesn't mean he will always be spot on with what he says, neither will I, nor will you be. But I am, like everyone else, allowed to express my opinion. And I too am fed up with referees as an excuse, i think I've made it known. I was agreed with mdm on how Calgary played their game by breaking down the offence, nothing more.

We don't have an enforcer because, in montreal, he gets put into the dog house for taking penalties, and is then run out of town, the god damn media here is too involved, and people like Jacques "I'm illiterate, yet I can spell out McDonalds without missing a beat" Demers has already took a toll on certain players pyschi by saying stupidities, and yet praise franco's with sub-par play. Geroge Laroque would be a good enforcer, but with the way the media is, he won't want to play in MTL, like most people who know what the media is like. And I can bet you top dollar that when we do have muscle, and he will take a key penalty, you will have 97% of this board jumping down his throat demanding he be traded.

Well put Brook. I've also noted mdmrules tendancy towards insults rather than anyting useful. In EVER post. It's one thing to insult a guy(I've done it to Ando-o), but you need to post stuff that has some insight without the insults mdmrules.

OH MY GOD! I serioulsy can't  believe how much flack I am getting for saying the term hand-job. You have alot of sifting to do to take that entire post full of relivent arguments and come up with "hand-job"; then I'm told that I am trying to define what a "fan" is, that I have no insight, and that I am now a barbarian. I just wonder if it was worth all the anger, and the tears that have been shed for saying something that is allowed to flow freely on prime time television.

Yep, but I made this post before reading most of those comments, which goes to prove my belief, however, yes Souray should have taken off his protector, and yes fighting McCarty solved nothing on a one on one basis, but it did send a message that you cant send out a goon and do whatever you want to the Habs, cause you'll get beat.

But there's a difference between pummeling a guy when someone needs to be pummeled, and getting sucked into a fight with your recently broken wrist by a guy who's out there to suck you in and nothing more. I don't think it's jumping down Souray's throat to give him some flak for a dumb move. Anyway, he's been playing well lately, and good for him and the team.

However, I would also like to resurrect mdmrules' immortal phrase to describe the way everyone is bowing down to Souray lately. It's easy for Souray to go out there and take responsibility for the losses, he's been one of the worst players on the team this year, and possibly our biggest disappointment. Not that I don't wish others would do the same, but hey, it's kind of like when you're a kid and your friend comes over to your house and starts doing the dishes right after supper. Coming out in public and declaring your humility is very different from what's going on in the dressing room that we don't get to see, and I don't blame the rest of the team for resenting him slightly for it.

Plouf- you asked for proof earlier of a leadership problem with Saks. Aside from trying hard every night, tell me one thing that this guy has done to take control of that dressing room? He has missed several opportunitities to step up and show leadership and he has failed miserably. Sundin has been stepping up in the Media for Toronto and calling out his teamates and telling them that the answer to their woes lies within them. That is what a captain does. And please people do not tell me that there could be things going on in the dressing room that we do not see. It is obvious to every one who watches the league that Montreal has severe dressing room and leadership problems. Is that all Saks fault? Of course not. Coaching has to take some heat and they have and will. But why is it that, because the guy tries hard that many give him immunity to criticism ? He has 12 goals while playing every power play, yet his supporters counter by saying "he gets alot of assists and is a good playmaker".

Now before everyone jumps down my throat (which happens whenever anyone says anything even slightly negative about our captain, keep in mind i like this guy as a person and I appreciate what he brings to the party every night in effort. But it is painfully obvious to most that he cannot solve the problems in that room as captains need to.

The problem is that he's leading the team in points, +/- and no one else is stepping up. I am not sure I understand how you can criticize the guy when he's the only one producing. Time to pick on guys who aren't doing diddly for what they are being paid and stop going back to the same guy who is one of the only positives this year.

Yes as captain he has to take some responsibility, but from what I can see, Theo and Kovy don't really care what others say.

Now's the time for the drinking after that loss, lol . We will soon see if Saks is the problem. BG will get rid of the problem in the room, I can guarantee you that.

Also, the fact that he scored in the last minute of such a disaster shows he really never gives up...
