1.Languay, Engblom, Jarvis, Lacquin To Washington for Green and Ryan Walter 2. Chris Chelios to Chicago for Denis Savard 3. Desjardins, Leclair to Philadelphia for Mark Rechi.
Concerning the Washington trade how many times did Washington go to The Stanley Cup Finals (they were just happy to try and qualify for the playoffs which they did after the trade also Langway won the Norris twice?) as a result of the trade - Montreal twice (1986/1989) and one cup 1986 and the second best record in the regular season in 1989 behind Calgary who won the Cup - For Montreal it was fine tuning and it was a trade they could due to depth Carbonneau to replace Jarvis - Langway an American was threatening to retire due to extra taxes etc being an American in Quebec - Craig Laughlin was an extra forward and Engblom although a steady defenseman was easily replaced and Montreal got two high ex-first round draft picks in Walters (whose son now plays in The NHL for Boston) and Green who became a high minute dman......I don't think it was such a bad trade for Montreal loking back.
