Gee...I vaguely recall someone posting LAST EVENING that this would soon come to a head...hmmmmmmmmmmm!?!?!?!?!?!
...and so, it begins!
(I'd let him stay as Captain in a minute on only two small conditions; 1 - $3 million per season MAX for two years with a club option for a third year AND 2 - assurances that Saku will become the second line centre once the opportunity arises)
I can't wait to see what Bob is thinking on this one!!!

Gainey should wait another month till Saks is totally sacked with no energy before signing him then he may get him for real cheap! As you seen in Tonights game, there isn't much left in the gas tank!
In saying that though, I hope Gainey signs him for the right price and under the right situation, Saks can still be effective for us!
Of course this means taking the mental and physical stress away by giving him second line duty and letting someone else have the "C" like Souray!
Just let Saks play hockey the fun way without the big responsibilities that have haunted him with injuries and team harmony the last ten years! Way too much to ask for him to keep trying to do this! His body has been through alot with all the injuries and Cancer that he battled!
1 goal and 1 assist out of 2 goals must have been a really bad night... Where was the rest of the team? Where was the saviour Bonk? Where was Ribs on a night when you couldn't just sit in front of the net?
Saku will get 3 yrs at around 9 million as I stated in an earlier post. Now it's time to actually get people who can play with him.... Who's the first line center in Calgary?
ok ...iam the biggest Koivu fan, but last night was a horrid night for koivu i must say. He looked like a chicken with its head cut off. He misses all of his hits lately and must be tired of checking boards across the NHL. His skating has become subapar and so has his stick handling. He is not the center to play with Kovalev. I wish Gainey gives PLekanecs the chance to play with Ryder and Kovy because he is much more creative than saku is at this point. Saku does not deserve 3 million a year here, or in Finland or wherever he plays. Also, Zednik has amounted to nothing. Bring up Perezhogin and ship Zednik off for a Dman who can get puck up ice. But koivu is really disappointing this year.
How could you tell with Muller - It's not like he was the fastest skater or best stick handler/play maker on the ice........
Good point, and same with JohnM, but I was hoping this would be a thread where AB Habman and And-o could make hilarious "objective" speculations about Koivu all by their lonesomes...As for Saku11, the "biggest fan" of Koivu, that's a good one guys.
plouf, iam not saying Koivu is not giving all he's got, nor am i saying he cant contribute, all iam saying is that he is play has diminished this season. I know he is battling fatigue and injuries, but right now he is not at his best, while we're at it , so is nobody on the team

Why is it on this board that no one is allowed to say anything even remotely negative about this guy? Is he God? He stunk last night. Maybe he is sick again I dont know. But he has not been there the last few weeks in my opinion. As far as captain goes, like Julien, Saks has "lost the room".

I think that is the key here boys and girls. IMO the momentum shifted when Souray was thrown out of the game. At the time the Habs were leading in shots 6-2...

I have respect for you already! You are a Saks fan but can be objective when he has an off night or two!
I see you're from Montreal! Welcome to the board my friend!
