I'd rather bring them to Halifax if I could, but I'm short a few quid..........

Actually rumour has it Miramichi where I live. The arena only seats 3,000 but thats all they will draw after Syd leaves (or gets maimed on the ice) anyway lol

Quebec or Winnipeg should have a shot. Can you imagine Sid in QC against his beloved Habs 8 times a year.

I was working a day at the Colisee (sp?) back in 95 and have a picture of me in the hallway with all the chipping paint and mold.... It was obvious then that there wasn't enough money to keep a team there, so I'd rule that out. Hartford always seems to chime in, but doesn't ever step up (worked in that building as well, strange in-a-mall, dug-in-the-earth arena) and the area is hardly growing with hockey fans.

Is Winnipeg replacing the arena there? It was sad seeing it torn down the other day...

I've heard interest in bringing in a second Toronto team (The Mississauga Mets?)... But that will never happen in Laff-land

Maybe an anglophone Montreal team? Nahhhh....

Hamilton, Halifax, Moncton, Victoria, Saskatoon? Too small or too close to someone else.

So if it's Canada, and they have a new arena, I'd say Winnipeg, but it looks inevitable that they will end up south. Portland, Las Vegas (still no profesional teams of any sport), Milwaukee or San Antonio would be my best guess...

I heard that if the club moves, the leading candidates would be Kansas City and Houston.

They did win 3 cups though! (sort of). KC has fantastic meat, if you're a meat lover like me. (don't delete, no filth intended)

It was reported that if the Pens get their slot machine licence/deal, the new ownership will have to honour the team's present commitment to stay in Pittsburg.

Rumor-Could the Pens end up in Toronto? 01/19/2006 @ 02:32 PM

Take this for what it is worth, but it comes from a golden source.  I realize there are many issues, including the NHL needing to approve another team in Toronto, and the Leafs allowing it to happen....But when I got this email it was far too interesting to keep to myself.

I copied and pasted it word for word.  (leaving out some needed names)

"As you know Ek, we are very tied into some big money in (Another Canadian City).  We were just ending up a video conference when ****** asked me if I had talked to ****** about his groups plans to bring the Penguins and Crosby to the North of Toronto.  I said I hadn`t at all, and he proceeded to tell me some details I am not at liberty to disclose, but safe to say you can add Toronto to the cities where the Pens could be moved.  At least I can tell you this. The numbers I heard were numbers that Mario would probably skateboard to Toronto to get.  I don`t know that they have approached him yet, but I buzzed ***** late this morning.  So far only voice mail.  I will let you know what more there is to it, but feel free to use this as long as you protect me.  It is really not a big deal yet, since it is mostly hearsay and my information is third party.  But he will get back to me."

stay tuned....

This got me thinking...Understand that I am all about keeping the Pens in Pitt, where they have been for forty years and built up a great fanbase...If they do move however, where is the best place for them to go? The cities I have heard mentioned are Vegas, KC, Winnipeg, Portland, Oregon, Hartford, and now Toronto.

Where is the best place to put any team now?

I think it is a toss up between Portland and Toronto, but it will be about money....Both would work.  Just my opinion.

Toronto's ego is big enough, dont give them another team!!! Id MUCH rather see an Canadian city get a team for god sakes. Winnipeg and Quebec are dying for one, and we need one in the prairies!!! But if the move stays in the states....KC or Hartford is my vote....just NOT Cleveland...
