I keep reading up on the posts daily here, and all i see is Ribs this and Ribs that...he's still with the team guys, he had a goal and an assist tonight.  We hear rumors, and listen to every sport junkie on the habs, but truth is he is 1 point behind Ryder in points, and nobody bashes Ryder.  Ryder is a completely different player yes, he has a better shot, and speed and can check, we all knew Ribs can't check, and he is a set up man, we knew that too, so whats the problem, he's not getting paid too much in my eyes.  I won't bash Ryder or Ribeiro cause i feel they do contribute, maybe not as much as we hoped for this year but they do.  And as long as Ribs is still wearing a habs jersey, lets be positive somehow.

Thank you! Finally a post recognizing that this is a team sport!

And in a team sport when someone is not pulling their weight or is pulling their weight or is creating controversy etc etc - it is obvious and it is something that gets talked about good-bad or indifferent.......

I bet Ryder and Ribs goals are like buying something from the the Bay at 70% off, because of the contracts this year.Oh thats a good thing so they aren't perfect .Who knows if they will be part of the team in the future...maybe, maybe not.

Ribs makes me think of the time he scored on Belfour ,great move!

Ryder I just know that guy reminds me of Leclair or Hull ,style.

Who knows what they become.

Good points...It would be great if we could get their contract amounts listed here so we can compare them to the core players like Kovy, Saks and Theo. We will then see that it is all relavent! The whole team has been underachieving relative to what Gainey expects via their pay!

Ryder hasn't been brilliant this year, but he still looks like he'll have a future as a number 2 winger in the new NHL.

Ribeiro, points or no points, looks like a bust in the new league. I honestly don't care much about his antics, and I have a soft spot for the guy, honest, but every game I've watched this year he's stunk up the joint. Even the ones where he gets an assist or two he is such a huge defensive liability it is mindblowing. I've NEVER seen a top-3 centre for the Habs, since I started watching them in the late 1970s, get caught up-ice so many times, and have his line so regularly pinned in his own end.

I still think there's hope for him, if he recognizes his deficiencies and spends every summer for the rest of his career working on his skating. He does have true talent in some aspects of the game, and his attitude could be a plus in the right situation.

And another thing. Ribeiro is still with the team partly because he is hard to trade, which is partly due to his crappy performances.

I WANT him to do well, believe me. I like the guy, but if there have been disappointments this season, well he's number 1. Bonk has been injured so he's only number 2 at this point. Souray has picked up his game, and Theodore ...well he's been fairly crappy too, but you can still see the potential to be an all-star in his game. I'm hoping. As for Zednik and Kovalev, as long as we make the playoffs I'm sure they'll be okay.

Actually I used to be a Kovalev supporter but he has lost most of my respect this season. Why should it be ok to make the kind of money he does and only show up for the playoffs (if we make the playoffs). This guys has so much talent that it is sickening yet his desire to put out is almost nil.

I still like the guy, but you're now all seeing first hand what everyone in NY had to suffer through with Kovalev.

Don't rule him out before the playoffs, though. And don't discount the idea that he has the ability, if he feels like it, to get us there...

So Kovalev reminds you of me?

Why do you always have to be positive?  Ribeiro does NOTHING on the ice.  The only play he made that stands out in my mind, other than last night, is when he scored in overtime versus the Flyers in the first month of the season.  He needs to stop playing like the little fairy that he is, get into corners and start shooting the puck.  True to form his goal didn't even come on his own shot, but a deflection.  He got his assist by sacrificing his body and taking the hit and you could count on one hand how many times he's done that this year.

2 points in a blowout does not make good for the complete lack of effort Ribs has shown this season. I'm guessing BG told everyone that no one's job is safe and that lit a fire under his lazy ass.

He's earned every bash he recieves.  We need to dump him while he still has SOME market value.

Because being positive > being negative.

If all you can do is look at the negative aspects of a 2 point night, that's pretty pathetic. I don't even like Ribs, but I hope he turns his season around for two reasons.

1) I bleed bleu, blanc et rouge.

2) I want all the annoying pasnies to drink a nice hot cup of STFU when it comes to bashing players, EVEN Ribs.

Get over it.

Your positive energy is simply radiating.  I smell some wins ahead.  What does it matter?  Everyone knows this guys is underachieving.

He doesn't make the club better so that to me is a negative and it is my right to be able to voice my displeasure.  He's a liability and his attitude he brings is poor. You keep smiling when we have 3 wins in the last 10 games!

Hey Pablo,

Not sure what all your righteous positivity banter is for, all 24 Rings was pointing out was the OBVIOUS.
If you bust your Wife cheating are you going to 'kill her with kindness' ?? I doubt it, so why should we sit
back and applaud players who are disparaging our beloved franchise the way you Wife disparaged your relationship?? The mighty CH deserves a helluva lot more respect than that little rat has shown this season.

a) he's 5'6 1/2
b) weighs 152 lbs, soaking wet
c) benches 82 lbs (4times)
d) NEVER shoots
e) he's a joke - trade him while we can...

Wake up buddy, this forum is for opinions, positive & negative... deal with it or beat it.

If Plakanec could secure a spot, he would be a hell of a bargain at 450.  He's looked pretty good most times I've seen him (and that means RDS out here in the WEST!!) and he can pretty much play on any unit, including killing penalties.

I think Begin at 680 has been dynamite.  Not sure how many years they've got him, but they may want to secure him...especially if they can grab him in that price range.

Exactly. It's my OPINION that all this negativity after a 6-2 win and a 2 point night by Ribs is OVERKILL. He's been bashed all season long. Cut the guy some slack when he actually does perform.

What can I say? I'm a positive person and I just love my Habs and hockey. Yes, I want them to get better, but there comes a point where the negativity is so overwhelming that you just lash out. At least that's how it is for me.
