Now, I know when all has been said and done,  All has been said and done. However realistically where do we go from here??   Please serious answers only  no joking or sarcastic responses  what do we need to do to get this team going ???

I would say trade a player (namely Theo) to indicate that no one is safe, but players ARE safe until the Olyimpics are over and that will be too late if this continues.


 I don't think it is Julien's fault.  Somehow you need to light a fire under these guys and I don't think healthy scratches were doing judging by Ribs and Daggies (R.I.P.) response to it.  You could strip Koivu of his C, but I would not/could not blame him for this recent funk (recent may be a little generous considering they have been pretty bad for 2 months now) AND you need to keep the team unified. That is a really great question and I don't have the answer. 


My only suggestion would be let the young guys have a chance to do something...Huet, Plakanec, Higgy, Zhoggy and Kostisyn, because they can't do any, worse can they?

Indeed a difficult question.
The weird thing is that the team (ie. mgmt, coaches..) is maybe a little confused about where the team is at.
Rebuilding or not rebuilding? ~4 rookies + younger/unestablished players, combined with key established 'stars' like Kovy, Saks, Zeds, Bulis Theo. Expectations for Le Tricolore are distorted per usual but expecially considering that the team is trying to integrate a number of new players while winning regularly.

1) Without question the first step for this team is trading Theodore.

- His play has been laughably inconsistent.
- He is 29 yrs old, in his 'prime' and his trade value is still very good - in a word, he's overrated !
- They can fill 2 monster holes with one player - 1 non-euro/french Forward (ie. actually hits people, can get angry, show heart and don't have epilepsy) ; 1 defencemen not requiring training wheels (Souray) ...

2) Trade Souray, Ribeiro and Bonk.

- As hard as it may be to trade these underperformers, do it anyway. They hurt the team.
- Ribeiro is a brat who gets 50 cheap pts a year and is thrown around every game.
- It's a wonder Souray bothers dressing for games since he gets undressed on a regular basis (see Spezza's posterization..). CJ slapped an 'A' on him, preferably in hopes of boosting his value.
- Bonk. See game last night. No heart. No production. No good.

3) Draft some grit. Take a page out of Minny/Nashville/Flames books - 17 Prancers NEVER win a championship.

4) Dress players everynight who care about wearing the 'CH'. Current effort = disgusting.

I think one of the major things we need to do is get a player who can play along side Alex Kovalev. This guy is our franchise now. Playing him with Ribiero and Kostisyn (sp) is crazy. When playing him with 2 players with way less skill, it allows the other team to double him all night. It happened in the Colorado game last night. Build a team around him and we would be in a lot better shape then building one around Theo. Thats my ideas. Use the best right winger in hockey to his full potential.

I love the Habs as much as the next guy, but calling Kovalev the best winger in hockey is a little much.


I think he can be the best when/if he wants to be and that is about it. He certainly hasn't wanted to be the best lately.  I would rather have Iggy than Kovalev any day, even with Iggy struggling.

I cant disagree more.  Kovalev is a game breaker, he can do it all.  But when he is on the ice with stiffs what do you expect?  Take a little atention away from him and see what he does.  You will all see in the Olympics when he tears it up.  When he is surrounded by good players, he is amazing, did anyone see the world championships last year?  And as for the best right winger in hockey.  Just watch him handle the puck with 2 or 3 guys on him.  I dont see Iggy doin that.

Did you watch any of the Flames games during the play-off run 2 years ago?  I was at every home game and Iggy and Kipper led them singlehandedly to the finals. That is what Iggy is about...period!  Best Captain in the game today.


It's not that I don't like Kovy, cause I do.  I just think he doesn't show up too often.  His hands are amazing and he has the size to go into corners.  I just think he can't be bothered on too many nights.


I like Iggy, but I'll be wearing Les Tricolore on Jan 19th in Calgary!!!
