This year is going to be my first year eligible to vote. (I missed last year by 1 week) And I was wondering what type of input I can get from the people on this board. I'm already leaning in one direction, but I'd like to hear what some of the people here have to think and maybe allow me to have a clear choice.

If you do not mind hearing from someone south of the border; I like Jack layton He just looks very honest and he seems to be very articulate. I Watch with interest the comments by Gilles Douceppe. He seems so pasionate about his party and his Quebec people. Paul Martin to seems to be not so honest. I know Judge Gomery cleared Martin of wrong doing in the sponsorship scandal, but I think he knew alot more that he lets on. For me true conservative you know who I would vote for thats right Stephen Harper. Now, please do not take this criticism of the party leaders as an insult. I watch your news very closely. I loved the 3 hour debate the other night. Listen here in the USA we have many of our own problems. I just thought you would be interested in some insight from a non canadian
Hope I was helpful and remember the right to vote is a precious thing. They can naver take that away from you.
I Love the politics of Canada, and I find it so interesting. I think we share alot in common. I know we do not always agree, but we are good neighbors. God Bless Canada and the United States And just for you this is number 900
Oh my God, the image master (absolutely no sarcasm intended) is asking a question of me! I highlighted everything from your name to the views, right click, copy and paste.

Yeah, sorry once more. I was at an industry conference in Toronto and took a break to watch the game. I had a few wobbly pops (bar opened at noon) and saw an American poster and thought you were someone else. I need to take my own advice and not post immediately after a game or after a few cocktails.

Jack was my politics prof at university in the mid-70s. I loved the guy.... and for the first time in over 30 voting years I'll be voting for the party spawned by Keifer Sutherland's grandfather.
Now in my neighbourhood NDP signs are about as plentiful as recent Hab wins but nonetheless.
I live in Calgary and this is the heart of Conservative country. Aa a pretty apathetic voter here is my take:
I would normally vote Liberal, but I just can't because of the BS these guys have spun. AND I hate that weasel Paul Martin (not the guy who plays for the Devils).
I WILL NOT vote for the Conservatives (i.e. the Western Alliance) because of their right-leaning, passive-Republican mandate.
Don't mind the NDP, but they don't have a hope out here. Maybe a bit too Socialist for my tastes as well.
My options are a) spoil the ballot (use my right to vote, while expressing my displeasure) b) vote for the Green Party - these guys will not win, but maybe they will get some more funding if they recieve some more votes.
Everyone has their right to vote for whatever they want, but this is just a glimpse of how poeple are frustrated with the garbage politics that go on in this country. With that said I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!!!!

Yeah that's pretty much it! Pretty sad state of politics isn't it? I don't know who is worse, the Conservatives or the Liberals...and I don't even need to mention the Bloc.

Voting in Canada right now is like choosing who should be the next Habs captain and you can only choose from Ribs, Dags, and Striet. Ribs is bad (Lib) but Dags is much worse and would destroy the team (Cons) and Striet is hard working but is not deserving and a vote for him is like throwing away a vote (NDP). The Bloc doesn't have a riding where you are so i didn't bother mentioning them.

First of all, thanks for all the replies guys. I do agree about Jack Layton, I like him and the NDP. Being a student, the Liberals have promised to lower tuition fees which would be nice. But I'm not sure how much I trust Paul Martin after the sponsorship scandal. Conservatives however are not my cup of tee. I feel that Canada has it's own seperate identity, and Stephen Harper is trying to turn us into a mini version of the US.

I loved this analogy. The bloc would be like (heavens forbid) the franchise relocating to somewhere like Kansas City

I'll give you my take on the election. To me, Paul Martin is a liar who stole Canadians' money, plain and simple. And Jack Layton is offering a socialist approach to Canada which will cause a HUGE deficit like Bob Rae did when he was Premier of Ontario.
Stephen Harper is the only positive choice. He wants to lower the GST which is a great idea, and wants to create a much better Canada.
If anyone is not sure who to vote for, look at it this way. The Liberals are liars and it is proven that they are criminals! And the NDP will create a huge deficit and ruin our country. Choose the positive choice... vote Conservative!
Kind of sounded like a commercial at the end, but that's my opinion anyway.
