Well if we wanna see where we stand in this league at this time of year, this stretch will definately prove it. The Avs, Sharks, and Flames.....3 really good strong teams without any big injuries (ottawa...) Good goaltending from all 3, scoring power, speed....its gonna be a test boys and lets hope they can pass at least 2 of the 3...i'm hoping they pull one out in Calgary, i have tickets...haha....
With all the games we've squandered the last 2 months, well, this is surely the time to pick the pieces up and go. We are going to need our stars to be stars and the support players to play their role. This is the time when leadership will be key - if we have no real leader in the room and on the ice, then we'll go 0-3 (unless some someone really shines one of the games, then we might have a chance.)
I think we can take Colorado and Calgary. San Jose will be very tough. But, this game, vs. COL I see a Habs 5-2 win. Let's hope Ribs can find the master keys now that his chum was sent packing. Think Ribs gets the message??

To oversimplify things tonites game comes down to goaltending. Will Huet play like he did against Ottawa? And which Abeschier will show up for Colorado (like Montreal, the AVs achilles heel has been inconsistent tending).

If Huet can keep his stick flat on the ice when it needs to be, and not let the road smack him in the butt, he'll be OK tonight, and might be a good idea to keep in for most of the trip. Theo has Thornton's number though (remember how ineffective he was in the last cup) and should go against SJ.
I See a strong performance tonight, need to shoot on the weak goaltending the Avs have. kovalev needs to step it up and love the fact they're starting Huet again. When was the last time we outshot someone, earlier in the year we outshot almost everyone! Go Habs Go, win two in a row and get a streak going.

Barry, I do not believe Theo's got cold hands...or cold anything else for that matter.
Seriously, I agree with starting Crystal Ball tonight. Give Theo some time to put his head back in the game and start to prove himself again. I hope like h-e-double-hockeysticks that this is exactly what will happen - I want to see him play in Vancouver when Normie and I hoist a wobbly pop at GM Place. (otherwise I may just have to hang around the bench and distract him).
The Canadiens playing in Denver sure brings back some memories. When I was a kid an NHL team in Denver wasn't considered to be within the realm of possibility. We used to watch the good old Denver Spurs at the venerable Colosseum. I have no love for the Avalanche, how could I? I mean, that's one aspect of sports in north America that europeans find so hard to understand. You live in a city, in this case Denver, then out of the blue this hockey teams comes flying in from Quebec. What kind of feelings could I possibly have had for them?!? The last game I saw in Denver (on tube, of course) was the last game in the '71 final series against Chicago. A 3-2 win, as some of you remember.

Habs were losing 2-0 in the second period. Jacques Lemaire scores on a ripping slapshot from centre ice that Esposito completely misjudges. Pocket Rocket Henri Richard scores two in the third for the Cup.
Sigh..........................

I hope we get some goals period. I like you would also like to see the D step up. Was Yanic Perrault one of ours at one time. He looks good tonight 2 goals for nashville
Well, it's fairly apparent the Montreal team (save Huet, who played a SUPER first period) just isn't interested in this hockey game. The Habs came to Denver content with mailing in the two points judging by the first period of play.
Hopefully they'll come out with a little more jump and hockey sense in the second after knowing all they have to do is play a solid 40 minutes now and they could conceivably get out of Colorado with a point or two. I'm hoping Huet continues his solid play.
Maybe its the thin air in Colorado. The Patriots are there too for a game on Sat. And my physical therapist is also in Colorado for the week. Boy, thats a popular place
What is with the no emotion on the Rivet goal. They are being outplayed - Huet is keeping us in the game and get a big goal - it should pump up the team. What the hell!!
Maybe this Huet will be the one to take us to the post season MMMMMM . I know seeing the 5 plus milion guy sitting does not look good. But, you know to get it done do what ever it takes
