Sorry I have been silient the last few days. Went on the road with my son's hockey team for a 3 game in 3days stint. Actually got to see more of him than I expected because he got the heave-ho before the second game for fighting during the warmp ups. Tol dhim it was nioce to join dad for a hot dog.
I did see alot of the habs game though. I really have a hard time seeing too much negative. I mean if we are not going to allow excuses when our players are hurt and we lose, then we cannot sit here and say "ya we beat Ottawa but look who was out". I do think that, if anything, Ottawa having guys like Spezza and Alfredson out puts alot of our losses into perspective (Koivu/Kovalev comparisons?) and it goes to show you take key guys out of key positions, including yoru captain and leader, and it can hurt sometimes, even with the depth that Ottawa has. (Although Toronto is to be commended right now)
I do like what CJ is doing with some of the new lines. Zednick has not responded to being on the first line since Saks came back. I like the idea of the veteran leader and playmaker on a line with the kids (Kots and Ryder). And we FINALLY got goaltending yesterday. Sorry but it is true. Had we had that goaltending we would have won bot the Devils and Penns games. That is not bashing, simple fact.
And for those saying to bench Ribs again, keep in mind that Gainey is trying to move him. Tough to move a guy eating hotdogs and wearing loafers during games.

I've been thinking about the whole "trying to move Ribs" thing. And why do I get the feeling that if this happens all we're going to see is the race card come into play yet again?
I think what the media in Montreal has to realise that the golden days where french players were almost destined to star for the Canadiens are over.
Do you think that if we had both a Team Quebec and a Team Canada in our international competitions we'd have the same problems with the habs?

Hey, Barry, great to see you got to spend time with the kid, even if it was for "enforcer" reasons (note to bob: look out for this guy!)
Good points all around, but in Quebec, can you legally call them "hot dogs" or do you have to say "cylindre de chauffage des chutes non désirées de viande"?

I'd hate to see Team Quebec. Until Quebec is a seperate country, it's still one chamber of the heart of Canada, and without it, there is no Canada, and without Canada, Quebec wouldn't be the same.
I completely agree with you brooklyn, but what I was wondering is if this WERE too happen and we were to see a team assembled of the best Quebec born players; do you think all this media attention on the habs to have the next "french superstar" would be as prominent?

I mentioned in an ancient post the Los Angeles "pro" soccer team Chivas USA, which is entirely made up of hispanic players and marketed toward the hispanic community. A similar setup with the habs might be interesting, but as far as the media goes, they'd start up with "he's not from Montreal, or he's an Ontario francophone"
They have a spoiled-child need to be the arbiter, even if it ruins the team and makes Montreal as attractive as Afghanistan to come and play in. Maybe it's because they realise, unlike other N. America media outlets, that no one outside their home province cares about, or reads anything they have to say.

This may be true of the star players - one bad period and the fans and media are all over their a$$es. However, the lesser players should love playing in Montreal; they're treated like Gods, which would not be the case elsewhere.

Did u say in the warm ups ??? boy we could use him
Ya well the coach was not impressed because he was already short a dman so had to play the game with 4. But this guy from the other team was taunting the little guys on my son's team. Next thing I knew they were taking the helmets off and going at it at center. Th epoor kid on the other team did not know my son is a lefty and the rest, as they say, is history.
