I have been watching the HDIC. This is great, better than anything I have seen in the USA. I love when they are showing the views from up above from the helicopter of the surrounding countryside. What a nice place and a great show. I can really see that hockey is the sport of canada. The outside rinks in Toronto where kids can show up and learn to skate. My hats off to the great white north

I have to agree, dave, HDIC is well put together. I recognized a few places. I've been to Grosse Morne National Park (where the fjords were) and to Stephenville several times (my sister married a guy from there, in fact). I've played hockey in the rink in Cole Harbour (Sid's home rink), and have even been to the one in Parry Sound, Ontario - Bobby Orr's home town. (In my view, the best player of all time.)
Since it was the first game I've watched on English CBC this year, I was surprised to see Bruce Rainnie interviewing players in Montreal. He used to work here in Halifax, and I used to see him down at my tennis club. One time he went down to my home village, about 200 miles form here, to play in a celebrity softball game, and he got so polluted the local boys had to 'pour' him into the CBC van after the game for the crew to take him back home.
As for HDIC, I found they do a good job of capturing the feel of the passion for the sport in Canada. I learned to skate on a pond, and still enjoy a good skate on one. It may not be exactly the Field of Dreams, but in Canada, it's as good as it gets.

I met Bruce when I was in the 3rd grade, right around the time he left CJLS in Yarmouth. He stopped in a visited our class and played the song "Shaving Cream" for us which we all got a kick of. It's nice to see people from this neck of the woods doing well.

You know, Zulrath, I had forgotten he used to be on CJLS. I used to audit that radio station, many years ago. Another alumnus who did well is Dave Harley, better known as General John Cabot Trail.
There was also a lady who is now with CBC in Toronto, but I forget her name..............
