MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens recalled forwards Andrei Kostitsyn and Jonathan Ferland, as well as defenceman Jean-Philippe Côté, recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

The Canadiens also assigned forward Alexander Perezhogin to the Bulldogs.

Kostitsyn, 20, has 21 points in 34 games with the Bulldogs this season. He has played in five games with the Canadiens this season, and recorded one point -- his first NHL goal scored on his first career shot on December 13 against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Ferland, 22, registered nine points and 47 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Bulldogs and missed 23 games due to a knee injury. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound native of Ste-Marie-de-Beauce was the Canadiens' 5th pick, 212th overall in 2002.

Côté, 23, has three assists and 51 penalty minutes in 26 games this year. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound defenceman native of Quebec City has played in his first three NHL games earlier this season. Côté was signed as a free agent on August 19, 2004.

Perezhogin, 22, played in 36 games with the Canadiens in 2005-06, collecting 12 points.

Don't understand this move. I don't mind sending Perez down so he can play more but why call all these other kids up if they aren't going to play. Why call up another D-man, we already have 7.

Keep in mind you coahc bashers out there..it is the GM who makes personell deiscions like this. Yes the coach has some input but ultimately these are Bob Gainey moves. Obviously he must have something in mind (or lets hope so)

From another board....

According to Montreal reporter Rene Pothier (Habs play by play man for 7 years) now comentator for Rad-Can who was at todays practice and who tonight was on Mario Langlois's sports show on Radio-Canada TV said that the reason Perezoghin was sent down was because of what took place at todays practice.

Apparently Perezoghin was dogging it out there and floating through most of the practice...at one point during 3 on 2 drills Perezoghin wasn't attentive and messed up the drill...right after that Julien banged his stick on the ice quite hard and went over to his assistants to talk...it was apparent he was upset with perezoghin.

There was never any intention of sending Perezoghin down until this occured today according to Pothier.

Wow if this is true, maybe the kid will wake up.  I thought maybe there was a trade coming.  I just hope this doesn'thurt relations with the coach and Perezhogin.  All though the coach isn't there to make friends.  Also how will Perez handle going back to Hamilton, especially after the incident a few years back.  Hopefully he can handle whatever comes his way and improves his game, because he has lots of talent but needs to work hard on it.

I have to tell you that even when he was getting lots of ice time, to me Perezhogan looked very disinterested out there. Sending him down sends a message to the others. Get your head into it or you could be sharing a hotel room in Hamilton with Perez.
