I have read all the responses to my taking a break post and it appears to have had the desired effect. Look folks, this is an AWESOME board here. And I am hoping that no one here ever gets the impression that I do not respect their opinion or that I, because of my extensive background in the sport, feel my opinion or thoughts are any more valuable or accurate than the casual fan's on here. Nothing would be further from the truth. I feel we all have something to contribute in this forum. Let's face it, if ANY of us could do a better job than Bob Gainey or Julien and his coaching staff, we would be there, not on this board.
But what I feel we have been getting away from is "constructive criticism" or making our points with some research and facts to back it up. For instance, saying that Julien is a "Moron" and does not know what he is doing is simply name calling. We need to start going and spending some time and doing our homework. Johab is great at that. When someone attacks Theo, Johab goes and looks at stats and comes back with legitimate reasons you guys are wrong. I try to do the same when I feel Julien is attacked unfairly (for example as I said a 14th ranked PP is not a team without coaching), as does John M when Saks is being called out. I feel lately that some of the comments on here have been meant to raise the ire of certain posters, rather than contribute to the spirit of what this board is here for. Dimebag said it properly. Stop acting like schoolchildren.
My point is this. Let's all try to make our points without attacking other members on here and let's try to have some facts to back up our argument. I feel that we will have a much better forum here if we do. Maybe we need the Quality versus Quantity approach.
I stand by my argument that we have good coaching right now and that the team chemistry needs a shakeup. This means trades and/or demotions. I say this as a habs fan. I am a habs fan first and a Julien fan second. I have looked at the stats and what I see as the facts with the personell we have had. I feel the habs will be better served with some player changes. If I felt for one minute the habs would improve LONG TERM under new coaching, I would be the first to advocate it. I do not want a "quick fix" for our team. A coaching change, IMHO, would turn things around for a couple weeks. Like a new relationship, it goes great for awhile, but then the same old issues resurface. This team has personell issues and I am sure Gainey sees this and is looking to fix them. In the meantime we need to be patient and ride it out.
GO HABS GO. By the way, I spoke with CJ This morning after practice. He is guaranteeing us a win against Sid.
