I se we are playing Ottawa twice, Carolina twice Nj and calgary and a few others. Not to mention we go on another long road trip. I hope this team gets going soon, because we could be looking up at most of them in the next month. I still do not feel the chemistry is there for this team to Gel. What it will take only God knows.  This is going to be a tough month

To be honest davidb....im really getting worried myself. I DO NOT think a coaching change is needed...see how far that went in pittsburg? And a major trade i.e the Thornton trade isnt what is needed either. I believe that this slide is due to key players being injured at really bad times. Break someones legs and then go tell them  to river dance....they arent going to do well. Take a teams best players away...you get the same thing. With the KEY pieces coming back and MAYBE a smaller trade to shake things up a bit MIGHT benifit this team. Im REALLY hoping that this next week brings some positives back to this board because being a habs fan shouldnt be a chore....

I am willing to bet the tides are about to turn for the boys. This team isn't as bad as some posters have been posting. We got stuck in a rut because of injuries. We don't need to go trade our best players just because. Thank goodness BG is in charge and doesn't listen to the fans or the media.

Let's take a look:

1) Theo hasn't been playing up to his standards for most of the season. I think he has been playing hurt long before they said so. As he stated he's about 90% now and is a bit out of shape because of the injuries. I'm expecting a strong second half for him.

2) Kovy with the knee surgery. It looks like he needs some time to get his legs out there. The Ottawa game was basically adrenilyn (sp?). Give him a few more games and he'll be back to normal.

3) Sak is Sak. He will be fine in the second half.

4) Bonk should be coming back soon and he can't be that bad. He had a rough start and can only get better.

We will be ok boys and girls. We have had a long rough patch and it's hard to write positive posts but I gotta try.

The injuries aren't  an excuse I've been saying this for the past month or so. There is no depth and we need other guys to pick it up and they are not. For example the Laffs have alots of injuries lately and they keep winning. Their injuries don't keep them from winning. They have been missing better players at various times, also missing more players than we have but still find a way to win. the Habs are not playing at all.

Ray- we have key personel missing in key places and you are right. It is obvious that our team is lacking depth in places. Center really. Bonk did not turn out to be what Bob had hoped for. Maybe he will after this rest. But what bothers me more than that is the fact that other players have not stepped up to do the job. There needs to be more of a sense of pride and urgency that coaching cannot teach. Come on boys. You are playing hockey for the most respected sports franchise on the planet!!!

I think that I've said this before ... but at the beginning of the season, the talk was that the Habs would be tough in the New NHL because of their speed. It started out that way. How did they become so slow?

It seems that players are standing still in the neutral zone to receive the pass. They need to break out and move up the ice with some speed. Hit the players with passes while they're in full stride.

Other than this oversimplification, I'll leave the coaching analysis to Barry.

Actually I have been doing a bit of a team by team coaching anylisis and will update you guys. I do this because as a coach, I like to observe these guys and see what they do that I can use. My first report will be on Pat Quinn.
