Saku Koivu's injury...
Permalink Closed

And-o sure would like a true update on this one...cuz clearly it ain't a "twinge" in the groin that has "Saint Smurf" on the trainers table again...or is that still?!?!?!? (I am glad though that NOBODY seems surprised by this latest episode of "where is Saku")

Is Barry33 withholding info from And-o on this one??? (maybe CJ has tipped off Barry33!?!?)

...history repeats (or is that repeated???)!!!

QUESTIONS FOR ALL...what was Saku worth in a trade immediately after the Habs first 10 games versus todays value???  Is it one-half???  One-quarter???  Less...especially since his contract is almost gonzo???

Is Saku destined to be a Doug Weight (as in, a deadline day download to a contender for a draft pick???)

Would you rather spend $5-$6 million per season going forward (say for 3 years) on a guy like Saku or Doug Weight...or Joe Sakic...or Brad Richards???

It doesn't seem to matter what type of injury because we were losing with him in the line up also! But never the less it would be better to evaluate this team with all roster healthy and playing for Gainey to make trades!

Koivu and his one year contract may be the first traded!

True update is a groin pull, kinda like Bonkers has. Takes a long time to recover and if not healed properly can flare up again.

I think if this groin injury is taking long too heal, maybe he should skip the Olympics a get rested for the playoff run.  Just a suggestion, and besides Kiprusoff will have taken the heat off him for staying home too. Just a suggestion but we need him healthy and yes I know your country is first but he has obligations here too.

I have said this in the past and I agree. Not for Saks in particular but for players in general. I know they all want to play for thier country but I feel the first commitment is to your NHL team that pays your salary. If anyone needs those 2 weeks off it is Koivu. And to be fair, Kovalev's knee could porbably use a rest as well.

As far as I am concerned a players first responsibility is to his team not to playing in the olympics , am I alone in this opinion
