Where are the Huet lovers???
Permalink Closed

I think there were a bunch of posters hoping to see Huet play the majority of the games after the win against Ottawa. What happened to those posters? I think one person posted that the Huet, Bonk for Garon deal might be a steal, what a joke. Funny how posters on the board post based on 1 game and not over the long haul.

With 33 games in the season and the Habs in 6th (close to 7th and 8th), I think that most of us can agree that's where we expected them to be at this point in the season. There have been some bright spots and some not so bright spots but one thing I can see is there is a turn on the good side for the team.

1) Markov and Rivet have been a nice surprise

2) Kovy and Koivu will be dominant come playoffs

3) Souray is finally turning the corner

4) Ryder is a pure goal scorer. Put a center on his line and we could have a 40 goal man.

I hope the team gets healthy so we can see what they can do together. I also hope BG can tinker with the lineup to get a second line center, a solid D'man and another winger for the 2nd line. If this happens, who knows what can happen come April.

I'm making this judgement off of the game against Minnesota and Ottawa because I was not able to catch the Washington game. But I believe the expectations going in where that Huet was to simply prove himself as a stable backup. From what I've heard about the Washington game it appears to have been a team meltdown and so I would draw the conclusion that it was not Huet's fault. Therefore he has done his job and proven he is capable of that role. So now what we need is for the rest of the team to give him support when he is in goal. And also for Theo to prove he belongs as the number 1. Look at goalies like Sean Burke, Chris Osgood and Jocelyn Thibault. If you don't earn your spot, you lose it. I've always been a fan of going with the hotter hand in net.

I watched the game against Washington and I believe 3 out of 4 goals should have been stopped. One was high from the blue line, no screen, no deflection. The other two were from the side of the net. Check out the highlights, this guy is a backup at best. Garon is a starter in LA...

John, now you're criticizing posters for a show of support for goaltending! Isn't it about time that we finally get at least two solid goaltending games in a row? I for one appreciatied it! There is no proof that Theo would of won that Caps game also! He may of stopped the ones that Huet let in but may of allowed some that Huet stopped!

Are you not one of the posters that have been disappointed with our now high paid starter? I for one have been and hope Huet keeps playing. Our chances of winning with him are the same as Theo although he doesn't earn the millions! Actually I still prefer Huet's style as he covers way more net than Theo and seems calmer and more confident in net! Also a better puck handler.  As the two games he played were solid, I for one won't criticize for one average game!

My spelling is aweful today! Too much Christmas cheer has lead to too much editing but I hope I made my point!

My post was meant for those who jumped on the band wagon after Huet won one game. I am one of the posters who was not happy with Theo's play but won't jump on Huet's bandwagon after 1 game. The Garon for Huet/Bonk trade was brutal and that's what I was saying. I also stated that we need Theo to be on top of his game to do anything this season and in the playoffs.

Well do not blame people for looking for a silver lining. I was happy to see Huet or someone play well for a change. Hey id bring back Laroque, Plasse, Penney  anyone to play well. So if I jumped on the bandwagon I guess I am guilty. I was looking for any wagon to jump on

The fact of the matter concerning the "Huet/Bonk - Garon" trade is that Garon had to go and that Mtl had an asset in Garon and they tried to make the best of it. Garon was probably expecting to receive at least 1.5 Million in his new contract minium whereas Huet I believe is making just over the league minium and Bonk has lost his scoring touch but there is a chance hopefully it will come back. I don't think any NHL  team is paying their back up more than a million which Mtl would have done if they kept Garon so the Habs goal tending budget would have been pushing 7 million so the trade for Garon also had alot to do with salary cap implecations (sp) etc. Remember Garon is no Tony Esposito which Montreal lost when Espo was a young player..........

Look, the trade was made right or wrong lets get over it.  We need to move forward the problem is, no one wants to get motivated on or off the ice
