An excellantly coached game. Good line match ups and knowing exactly who to use in the shootout. Hopefully this game will shut a few people up.

Well , even though it's, late, late over here, I'm going to open mine: and pour down a celebratory drinkie-pooh! Cheers everybody and congratulations!

Apart from Perez not being used enough (I really do believe he has the tools to be a very good NHL'er), I can't complain one bit with the way Julien coached tonight.  The Habs played as a team and looked like they actually "cared" for a full 60 minutes . . . minus Koivu & Zednik.  I can't really think of anything negative to say about any Canadiens' player tonight . . . Huet was very steady in goal.  And Kovalev . . . wow!

I am having a smash of the Captain and raising a glass to my friend CJ who has taken alot of abuse lately. He deserved this one.

and-o, i usually agree with you, but this time you are about as wrong as a leaf fan's optimism after reading tsn.ca's predictions.

after coming back from a 3-0 early deficit.. without your captain, zednek, bonk and no.1 goalie, the habs were able to overcome shoddy officiating and beat the best team in the nhl.

if the players 'quit' on julien, they sure didnt tonight.  hopefully this can be the corner that the habs turn tonight.

Just admit it Barry33...ya thought of Ol'And-o when CJ called his timeout to rest the number one PP unit for the stretch...it is just common sense!

CJ earns a well deserved victory and a "well done"......although you should take a long look in the mirror and apologize to BG...cuz Mr. Crystal-ball Who-it AND some bum named Kovalev played HUGE games...BOTH GAINEY ACQUISITIONS...and Begin!

...good game all around though...except for the refs!

Now that Habs finally win one, the coach deserves the credit as he finally had skill to put on the ice and solid goaltending. He coached a solid game and his team didn't take stupid late penalties.

Don't understand how you can say that BG gets all the credit here. Habs still don't have any depth to work with and they certainly have holes to fill. They played above their heads tonight and can't play that torent pace all season! They won because of the inspiration from Kovy of  which BG was very lucky to sign. That will wear out and they will look average in no time. BG has alot of work to do for the stretch run and for playoffs.

Actually you know what I did lol..in my last email I told him that he would be doing me a great service on this board if he would use a timeout. Not sure he was thin king of me when he did though.

I did too.......................

Whether it was And-o's bright idea, or barry's e-mail, Coach Claude seems to have discovered the notion of time outs.  That's a good thing, as Martha would say.

Hey barry33, just wondering...have you ever told Claude about the board or told him to come here and read our thought....not that we want to put him on depressants....but maybe some of our insites might actually help....i.e. And-o's time out button....

Johab- actually when he was down last summer I showed him the sight before we went out golfing. So he knows about it. All I can tell you is that he tries not to read the local papers very much because, in his words, "there are 50 coaches in Montreal with tape recorders and note pads". He knows he is not going to make evryone happy and like all of us here, he will be second guessed no matter what he does. I can tell you that he puts ALOT of weight in what his coaches and Gainey tell him. Rollie Melanson for instance has alot of say in who plays goal. Gainey has say in who plays on a given night if he is trying to make a trade. Rick Green is in charge of dmen minutes and Jarvis looks after the Penalty Kill. He has alot of faith in those around him.

I met Claude when he was playing in the AHL for Quebec's farm team in Fredericton. I was and I was playing university hockey at the time in the same city. My future wife's parents knew Claude as well. Anyway, to make a long story short he ended up being an usher in my wedding (but I do not hold it against him). As I have said here before, to me he is not Claude Julien head coach of the Canadiens. He is just Claude.
