This is his bio off the Canadiens website. I felt it pertinent to put it here to give some a better understanding of this guy's qualifications. A "rookie coach" with no experience this guy is not. Some here will argue that he coaches like he is and that is your opinion. However his record speaks for itself. Is this the record of a guy who does not knwo what he is doing? He is struggling this year with injuries and if he has one fault it is being too loyal to certain players who do not deserve it. He also needs to start playing the kids more often. But let's not forget that he has coached all of the kids in Hamilton and knows them very well. He has been winner everwhere he has coached. That does not happen by accident.
Claude Julien
Position: Head Coach
Claude Julien became the 26th Head Coach in the history of the Montreal Canadiens on January 17, 2003. In his first complete season behind the bench in 2003-04, he led the Canadiens to their best season in over a decade, with a 41-30-7-4 record and 93 points. He also guided the Canadiens to the second round of the 2004 playoffs. Claude Julien’s coaching record with the Canadiens prior to the 2005-06 season was 53-46-10-9. Julien joined the Canadiens following three successful seasons as head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. At the time of his hiring, the Bulldogs led the league with 33-6-3-3 mark and 72 points in 45 games for a .800 winning percentage. Despite having coached only a half-season with the Bulldogs, Julien was named, along with his successor Geoff Ward, the 2002-03 AHL Coach of the Year. He was also selected as head coach of Planet/USA at the AHL All-Star game. Under Julien’s leadership, the Bulldogs set or tied no less than 20 team records in 2002-03. In almost three full seasons in Hamilton, Julien compiled a 98-77-19-11 record in 205 regular season games. Prior to landing in Hamilton, Julien coached the Hull Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League during four seasons from 1996 to 2000. He led the Olympiques to the Memorial Cup Championship in 1997. The Olympiques recorded an overall record of 141-109-16 ties in 266 regular season games under Julien’s tenure. Julien has also been very successful at the international level, winning a bronze medal as head coach of Team Canada at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Sweden, and a Silver medal as assistant coach with Team Canada at the 1999 World Juniors in Winnipeg. He also coached the Under-18 Team to a gold medal at the 1997 3-Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic. Claude Julien suited up for 14 games as a player in the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques from 1984 to 1986. As a defenseman, he played in 469 AHL games from 1983 to 1992, recording 246 points. Claude Julien was born in Orleans, Ontario, on April 23, 1960. He is married to Karen. He is the father of Katryna Chanel, born on September 10, 2005.

Everyone-o who seems to think canning this guy is a great idea should remember 03-04.
There's no way that was a 93 point team on paper, but there ya go - 93 points! And look at this year with a healthy bunch. Same sort of record.
And for those who want a ranting Mike Keenan type behind the bench. That guy was so talent dependent, and a total tool to boot.
So shaddup you faces about CJ (to be a little Brooklyn about it), and learn which histories to live by (CJ's record) and which to let go of (past glories and arenas with atmosphere)
Jay1982 thinks And-o is just jealous of CJ and would like to replace him behind the bench. Jay1982 thinks that there is no other reasonable explanation for And-o's attitude towards CJ. Jay1982 thinks that And-o should realize that the team loses because of the players, and their performance, or that perhaps, a team played better than montreal, which does happen, but Jay1982 knows And-o won't let up, which makes Jay1982 sad.
And-o just absolutely DIGS this board and ALL these crazy characters!
I'll make you all a deal...and And-o is a man of his word...I'll read that book page-by-page over my Christmas vacation IF CJ will agree to do so as well!?!?!?!?!?!?

The whole time I;ve been here I haven't read one positive post by you, at first it didn't bother me, but you only see the bad side of things, you aren't a true habs fan, you don't encourage anyone, and only have negativity about the team, why don't you go cheer for ottawa or Detroit.
And-O- Toronto has now lost 4 out of 5 and 7 of 9. This with Pat Quinn, head coach ofCanada's Olympic hockey team. Oh what's that you say? Toronto has some key injuries (Lindros, Antropov, Domi and now Steen) and are getting suspect goaltending form Belfour? Gee, that sounds familiar.
