C'mon gang!

One week off to reflect, re-energize and reload and THAT was the result!!!

I don't care who was injured last night...NOBODY was gonna elevate that half-heartedness to victory last night!

My sense is that Gainey MIGHT give CJ until the beginning of the annual X-mas roadtrip to turn this around...but no longer than January 1st.

...anyone else getting a sense that NOBODY is listening to the coach???  Even guys like Begin and Rivet seem detached from that "killer" attitude!

As I said in another post you are right. Time to bring in a new babysitter and tell all the little boys that they are really good little hockey players and that they really should go out there and try their bestest because it does not really matter if you win or lose but you need to work hard boys.  Cmon now little Stevey Begin..coachy will hold your hand for you. Stevey you really need to try harder out there or I am going to take your nintendo away. And Stevey if you take one more stupid penalty (you have only taken 20 so far this year but coachy will let you take one more) you will need to go sit in the corner with no dessert.  Oh and who do we have here?? It is little Richy Zednick. Now Richy coachy knows you are missing your linemates but you really do need to try out there. And Richy you need to share the puck with your friends now. You can't keep the puck all to yourself out there.

Let me see who is next for coachy? Oh it is Bonky! Now Bonky, coachy knows you can put that little black piece of rubber in that net if you try realllllll hard. Coachy is going to ask the NHL if they will let you use a soccer net when you play Bonky, how would that be? Oh and Sheldy Souray..coachy is going to get you some counselling now for your broken heart. If coachy  does that do you think you could go out there and stop the bad  guys in the other color sweaters from playing down by your goalie? That is your playground Sheldy and you need to try your bestest not to let the bad guys near your friend Theo?

There now..we have all the little boys trying their bestest out there. I am so happy we got someone new in there to get the millionaires to really try out there and play fair with each other! Coachy thinks he will get gold stars to give to all the good little boys who share and try their bestest out there. Little Saku Koivu always gets a gold star from coachy because he really tries his bestest and really that is what this is all about little boys. Yes I know that you all get paid bunches and bunsches of money to play good and hard. But coachy will make sure that you allllll feel special and wanted and needed. Now if Uncle Bobby will only go out and get us some defencemen who can skate and some guys who can put the little black thing in the net we will be alllllllllll better .

Oh an also your new coachy is going to have all the walls in the dressing room mirrored so that you can all look at yourself every chance you get so that when new coachy gets canned by uncle Bobby you can see the reason why.

Dunno about BG getting rid of CJ, I don't think anything will be done without long thought. If there will be a coaching change it will be between seasons. Like Barry has mentioned, the coach can only do so much, if the players aren't playing, he can't strap on the skates and start playing for them.

These guys need to look within, I am talking about guys like Zednik, Bulis, Sundstrom, Souray and Theo and pick it up for their team. The rookies and youths will follow but can't do it on their own. Without Sak and Kovy in the lineup some of the other players need to realize that they need to look in the mirrors and get it done. Right now all they seem to care about is getting their paycheck every month.

Great post Barry - I laughed a lot.  You are correct - the players are the problem not the coach.  These players are grown a$$ dogs they need to show and play with some determination.

Souray,Bulis, zednik, theo, ryder, begin, rivet, markov all need to step it up.

I have said it before and I will say it again  Getting rid of a coach does not put new talent on the ice. It may scare them into a shake up for a week or so, but thats it. We of course need the injured players back, but I suggest another big winger and D man. I know we have all heard it before but thats all I have to offer. Hey wasnt that an old country music song. All I have to offer you is me (oh ya Charlie Pride 1969). Thats it  Crosby will sing to Gainey  Oh Bob all I have to offer you is me

if CJ DOES get canned, who do you think will step up and take the job? Jarvis? I highly doubt it because he is there right now and we're having problems. Id rather see the team pull through this together WITH CJ. I had a feeling about last nights game and telling myself we're gonna lose before the game REALLY helped me swallow the loss after the game. Lets just hope this western road trip can wake up our guys. Cuz if not, im not sure what we can do....

We might have overachieved in the first 20 games...but lately we're underachieving....

You could have included the remainder of the team as they all, with the exception of Murray, stunk up the place.  Was it just me or did anyone else notice that Ribs is making it a habit of staying on the ice long after his line mates have gone to the bench.

Nearly every game I've watched this year I've noticed Ribeiro taking long shifts. He should be benched if he keeps it up. You have to send the message.

Gotta agree with Ando on this one... CJ has lost the room. Time to pack it up. But I don't think Jarvis is the proverbial "Man with the Plan". He seems a little... off. I think it may be time to stop hiring rookie coaches and go with some experience. Maybe Jacques Demers wants another go aorund! I also heard Ted Nolan is available.

Ted Nolan pisses off ownership, and even if that's not fair, perception is 9/10ths of the law

You're mixing metaphors, Brook - likely on purpose.  But for the record, possession is 9/10 of the law; peception is reality (which is even worse).

I was trying to operate my clever machine under the influence of Vicadin (ahhh.. my suddenly extracted tooth's best friend. Ask for it by name in fine pharmacies everywhere. Can't drink on it, though

Ted Nolan is far from available. He is head coach of the Moncton Wildcats Junior team and they are hosting the Memorial Cup this spring. Add that to the  fact he is not francophone.  By the way, why do you say Julien is a "rookie coach"? He has been coaching for 15 years, 3 years in France, 4 years in Hull where he won a Memorial Cup, one year as coach of the National Under 16 Team where Canada won gold, one year as head coach of the Under 18 team (after a year as assistant), 2 years in Hamilton. How much experience would you like?

funny thing,   i watched the highlights  and from what i saw the entire team was horrid   but the Rivet interveiw came up with an interesting stat  he was +1?  but what he said was even more interesting. he agreed with you john  he said himself that the players need to start looking in the mirror.  that tells me that at least one player is well aware of the huge heart problems the habs have    im not saying that they have loads of talent    but they have a lot more than what the've shown lately. kinda looks like some of the cooks i work with   they don't care   they just do the bare minimum to keep their paycheque untill the find a better job.
