MONTREAL (CP) - Montreal Canadiens captain Saku Koivu did not skate Friday and is to miss a third straight game with a groin injury.
Koivu will not be in the lineup for a game Saturday night against Anaheim at the Bell Centre.
''He's day-to-day,'' said head coach Claude Julien. ''We hope he'll be ready for our next game on Tuesday (against Phoenix).''
Returning to the lineup are defencemen Andrei Markov, who has served a three-game suspension for shoving an official, and Mike Komisarek, who missed three games after the death of his mother from cancer of the pancreas.
The Canadiens had a week off since their last game, a 3-2 victory over Los Angeles last Saturday night. Koivu skated this week, but Julien said he did not aggravate the injury.
The club called up forward Garth Murray from AHL Hamilton.
I seem to recall someone stating that this was clearly more than just a "twinge" felt in the groin area!!! Oh yeah, that was And-o!!!
...seriously though guys, a week is plenty (especially with the healthcare and therapy these guys get) for a "twinge" in a groin muscle to subside!
Lets hope that the Doc's get this thoroughly tested.....because And-o does NOT want to hear the word "surgery" in reference to Saku's groin (which And-o still thinks could possibly be a knee).

Whatever it is, I'm glad they're treating it cautiously rather than rushing him back in the lineup too soon (let them do that with the Bonks of the world). I'm very disappointed he won't be playing Saturday, but it doesn't seem too long until he'll be back. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Yup, better safe than sorry. Pretty sure it's just that, a groin injury which has plagued so many players this year... New NHL is tough on certain body parts.... Bonkers will likely be out for 2-3 weeks. Hopefully when he gets back he can get on track to help the Habs...
He looks so healthy in your avatar! Why has no one invented a groin protector implant? It seems like at this rate the NHL will magically transform to the AHL every year. Maybe not working the players like mules (rented or otherwise) is the answer.
60 game schedule, 3 round playoffs featuring the best 8 teams. Last 20 games of the season, no OT and 3 point wins

That would be so awesome. Imagine the intensity. Leagues like the NHL and the NBA need to take a cue from NFL and world soccer...if you only play once or twice a week the intensity rises....

Don't worry, everybody knows you what you predicted. Continuing to remind us makes it seem like you're drooling over the possibility.

Never happen though.
I've been really enjoying the rise of quality in soccer over the past 20 years. 2006 with a World Cup, the Champions League and a full Premier League season. Quite a treat. Maybe not for the poor player's knees though.

Plouf. I'v given up on And-o. First off, perhaps a little medical knowledge before we speak And-o. Secondly, I to sense more drool than Pavlov's dogs. It really is weird...I still think And-o was once beat up by a small framed Finnish guy and has a chip on his shoulder. It's just weird.
